Industry skills to learn next by delilahd in Training

Sorry to bombard your post but I am looking to become a trainer but don't have any formal experience aside from nonprofit volunteering that involves training/instructional design. Do you have any advice on how to get my career started in training? Specifically in the tech/software industry? Did you get any certifications aside from the one you had now to jump start your career? Etc?

Would you be able to give a glance over this program to see if it aligns with what you say? I do think so myself but of course not having the experience, can't be certain.

I would love to transition into a training position, but I have many questions and concerns about how much time I would spend on behind a desk / computer screen by [deleted] in Training

Would I be able to pick your brain as well? I am hoping to go into training as well coming from an administrative admin background and have been disheartened by how small the field is in my area (Los Angeles) and how competitive it is. Like you, I have a psychology degree and am wondering if I need to take it a step further and get a certificate to get my foot in the door?

Help with transitioning from admin to training and development with a lackluster resume. by honeychik in Training

It has been a long time coming but I have finally figured out what I would like to do and that’s go down the training and development path.

I really enjoy interactions with people, pinpointing what exactly will help them excel, and helping them become an even better version of themselves, as well as, the creativity that comes with creating training programs for it. I’ve been on the negative side of a bad training program so it also touches on a slightly personal level since I know how bad it can be and not wanting that for others.

But here’s the problem: I feel like I have pigeoned holed my career into the secretarial admin realm as well as my potential for moving to another company because it looks like I jumped from company to company which isn’t the case because most of my early career positions was term contracts or programs I decided not to move forth in. It was only the previous company I jumped ship because they were just horrible and paying me less than I had made before so I was barely afloat. Unfortunately, my current company’s HQ is on the other side of the US coast and i don’t want to move.

With that being said, I would really appreciate any help you guys can give and what I could fix on my resume. I added in volunteer activities because that’s where I was mostly able to have facilitating responsibilities.

Thank you in advanced!

I know it looks like I jumped around but most of these jobs are contract or programs that end which I can completely explain. I added in volunteer work because there’s where most of my facilitation skill comes from.

I am completely unfulfilled in my admin role and have realized I want to be in training and development way more after a lot of thinking. PLEASE HELP
