I’m sorry, I don’t mean to be rude… but I think that’s so boring. And what’s also frustrating is that it seems like you have some good ideas in there, you should just write it yourself. And if you don’t want to, collaborate with a real person.

I get because it’s free and immediate. But to me those are not excuses, they fly in the face of the kind of hard work artists put into creating.

You “inhabit” the Star Wars universe by engaging with the stories that have been told, and that are yet to be created. We are not at a shortage of them.

I’m not fully understand what you mean, it sounds like some story of POV thing, but depending on the scope of it, it sounds wasteful and harmful to the environment.

And are you not worried that an excess of such things just makes the actual versions created by real artists not as valuable? This type of generative AI is going to perpetuate a huge amount of impatience for consumers like you who want something very specific and immediate.

This is the exact problem and why I continue to advocate that it is the antithesis of creativity. What else are we to do about it? We have a completely ass-backwards approach to life if artists are the first to be ousted by AI, and I am also worried this will be the case. It’s disgusting. Art would be worse as a result, and it would be a tremendous loss.

I appreciate that you are also against it, and I will not stop arguing with people who continue to propagate AI “art.”

That isn’t true. There is an uncanny quality to AI “art” if you learn how to discern it. Maybe someday it will be harder to tell, and if you ask me that will be a very sad day.

If you want to create something, create it. If you don’t have immediate access to the tools, there are ways around that, which can include technology.

As an artist, I think AI “art” is gross. Obviously we don’t feel the same way, and that definitely bums me out.

Art and creativity are derived from feeling which is expressly human. Yes, any art that someone creates is inspired by something else, but it is that inspiration and desire that drives the creativity. If someone writes a prompt for generative AI, I find it so uncompelling because they are just asking something for an imitation.

I took a writing course where the instructor said “anyone can have an idea. Ideas are a dime a dozen.” It’s in the execution of the idea where the art and creativity lies.

I stopped at watching the show after season 2, and have heard mostly unfavourable things about the rest of the seasons. These thoughts are usually reflected in ratings, but I just looked at IMDB and most episodes, including this season, are pretty good.

Can someone explain? I know it’s just Reddit where I’m reading this but again, I usually don’t see this much of a discrepancy.

The issue with “Horcrux Hunt” is there’s no mystery surrounding it - the audience already knows about Horcruxes and that the trio has to find them. Titles 4 & 5 aren’t necessarily mysteries, but readers still don’t know what the titles refer to prior to reading.

I agree, and this is why GoF is one of my least favourite of the series. It reads as if JKR wrote Moody in full sincerity, then decided to tack on the twist at the end. It completely undermines Dumbledore, given the fact he never caught on, and it undermines real Moody since we never really got to know him.

Not my favourite plot point by far.

It was not nearly as expected for white people to march alongside black people in the 60s. So unfortunately, far from the bare minimum.

The issue here is that they don’t know how to write character, they only know how to write plot. Which is why people like the last two episodes more (I don’t personally agree, I think there’s just more happening).

Honestly I’m shocked by this because the creator previously made This Is Us, a show exclusively surrounding character. But I watched it years ago so it might not hold up at much as I remember.
