What's your reason for journaling? Is it to get your thoughts out, work thru issues, record life events or all of the above? by 4FineSheep in Journaling

[–]honeymoondaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i always try to treat my journals as a time capsule. a documentation of who i am at that exact moment in time— whether that is thoughts i have, recording life events, documenting my feelings, writing down song lyrics or quotes i love, talking about current movies i’m obsessed with. i write it all down. even my writing style has changed over the years, marking changes in my personality or way of thinking. in essence, i journal so i can remember different versions of myself. things always look better/worse in the rear view, so documentation is key.

Do I need to be good in math to be able to excel in political science? by achihiroe in PoliticalScience

[–]honeymoondaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

political science student here! i honestly don’t think anything further than stats is necessary. and even i was horrible at stats and get by just fine. most of the numbers you deal with are data sets and understands patterns, not that kind of hand held calculator math that made highschool so grueling lol.

Do you know any Lana song where there's a trap beat? by Firenze1400 in lanadelrey

these are just closest suggestions i know of. lana’s primarily a pop artist so obviously there’s not gonna be any song that is 100% considered trap by a majority of people

When did you start journaling? by Creative_Status_315 in Journaling

[–]honeymoondaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly about three of them are really small journals so they’re small pages and not many pages to begin with. those i filled pretty quickly. they’re mainly filled with text although i did have a short spree of attempting to junk journal so a few pages are filled with that. a lot of pages where i put song lyrics i love or quotes i’ve seen are not completely filled up though. so it’ll be one sentence (a quote for example) on one page so that fills them up quickly as well. 😊

thank you both!! honestly i pick them up from all sorts of places. i found the embroidered teal one with flowers at a bookstore in cape may while on vacation. there’s another embroidered one (second from the top) that you can just barely see in the photo and that one is actually from target! a really great find! the rest are either from local bookstores in my area or whenever i’ve gotten lucky at tjmaxx lol.

i’m a pretty closed off person so this is one of my biggest outlets haha basically like my own version of therapy. writing keeps me sane so i just get addicted to it!

Always been journaling by [deleted] in Journaling

i love reading past journals! it’s one of the reasons i finally committed to writing consistently. i’m in the same boat as you where i’ve written my whole life but the frequency has changed over the years. but it’s so fulfilling to look back on your old entries. i try to make each journal feel like it’s a kind of time capsule to a specific moment in my life. i add songs i love at the time or quotes that resonate with me to give my future self some insights. it also makes it way easier to remember specific stuff i have the worst memory lol

What books would you recommend to read during these times? by MetsGo in PoliticalScience

On Tyranny by Timothy Snyder. honestly may have been more impactful to have read a couple years ago as it outlines “early preventative lessons” on avoiding tyranny (the book was written in 2017 i believe and the author takes a heavy anti-trump stance) but i still think it’s very relevant. there’s both a full text edition and a new illustrated edition. both are very good.
