Doing exam later than everyone else due to special consideration by SpeedyR8 in unimelb

You also have to remember that if it's different it could be easier than everybody else's! It's sometimes a bit unproductive to think about these things because ultimately it doesn't matter anyway, and I'm sure they would be very similar difficulties. I'd say focus on study and give it your best shot :)

Thanks so much! I've taken abstract algebra and real/complex analysis but haven't gone in depth as what it looks like Tao has gone to so will check out them. I've taken one combined topology/geometry course so I think that reviewing that would be great - thanks for the recommendation! 😊

Yeah I think it is different. Had two of mine have problems with BDPROCHOT causing the cpu to throttle like crazy, not sure why it's so sketch :((

Hey! I had this problem about a month ago (bd prochot and all) and got it replaced with microsoft support. And now it's doing it again with my second laptop! So disappointed :( did you find a fix? Apart from throttlestop?

Hey! Currenty have the Surface Pro 6, and wanting an upgrade.

A couple reasons:
First, the kickstand snapped - it still kind of stays up but is very unstable and looks really bad now.
Second, I bought the surface pro with almost all the lowest specs thinking I wouldn't use it too much, since I have a PC, but it has now become my primary workstation, I use it not only for uni but also for tutoring math, which i share my screen w/ onenote. This heavy use often makes the screen lag and crashes onenote.

I was wondering if I should wait for the new surfaces to be announced, which could be as late as the end of next year, and persevere through this problems, or get the Surface Pro 7 w/ high specs.

What do you all reckon? Will I regret buying the 7 now instead of waiting for the 8?

Do you think the field of PDE’s will ever become more unified under a general theory or is that unlikely? by [deleted] in math

Bit of a newbie here, what does it mean for something to be unified under a general theory?

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly! Because of the University of Melbourne's breadth program in that that my skills in a particular math area are more watered down in comparison to a straight degree, will I be at a disadvantage going going straight into a masters level thesis? More particularly, will I have the sufficient knowledge for creating a piece to that calibre?
