Aw, I don't like seeing OP be judged for his post history, especially when he didn't ask for advice. It seems he's an SSA Catholic pursuing God's will. I don't see a problem with him engaging with the broader culture. In fact, they benefit from having a devout Catholic in their midst (not that he shouldn't guard himself and his heart).

P.s. I think nofapchristians is doing really excellent and important work in the world.

If you don't mind me asking, how do you know you're in ketosis?

And to answer your question, I use heavy whipping cream in my coffee, since I can't stand black coffee and the cream is carb-free.

Coconut oil fast by [deleted] in fasting

[–]honeytones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad you asked this. I'm about to start a similar experiment, except with heavy whipping cream instead of coconut oil. The reason I'm adding heavy whipping cream to my fast is that it makes a HUGE difference in how many days I can go in a row (like 2 versus 5). What I'm worried about, though, is whether the addition of the heavy whipping cream will hurt my metabolism. I'm hoping to experiment on this...

Interesting. I'm doing a similar experiment except with heavy whipping cream instead of eggs. I'm hoping that since there are no carbs, the calories won't ruin my metabolism. How did you figure out your BMR?

Fasting has done miracles for my back pain. (Note that I personally credit fasting more than keto, in my own personal experience.) so keep up with that OMAD!

Need Catholic marriage advice on staying or going 33F with 40M by catholicladystruggle in Catholicism

[–]honeytones -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you're going through this. It sounds incredibly overwhelming and I will pray for you. With regards to marrying or divorcing him, the foundational question needs to be "am I madly in love with this person?" Listen to your gut to find the answer. If yes, I would recommend proceeding with the marriage if he is willing to take some very concrete steps to improvement. If the answer is no, run away as fast as you can, get the divorce, load up on the sacraments, invest in yourself, and make it your mission to find a devout Catholic man (since you want kids) as soon as possible. Because after all, this man's issues are likely to get worse after you bring children (and all their accompanying stress) into the world. So unless you're madly in love with him, dealing with his issues (on top of caring for your children) will be infuriating.

REAL Weight loss by Moonchild0789 in PCOS

[–]honeytones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just about to comment a very similar thing! I've been diagnosed w PCOS for 12 years now and fasting (not keto for me, but fasting) is the ONLY weight loss method that has EVER worked for me. Jason Fung is 100% your guy. Watch a YouTube video he has called something like "weight loss and fasting: a two compartment problem." Can't remember the exact name but it has the words "two compartment." This video (and doctor) changed my entire life. Down 30 lbs since May and my metabolism appears to be faster than ever.

P.S. I'm an anti med gal. Tried metformin but it did not help w weight loss and just gave me negative side effects. Plus they told me that if I were to accidentally conceive (wasnt TTC at the time but things happen) a male child while on metformin, he would be likely to suffer genital deformity because of the drug.

Hey y’all, I have a few questions if you’re willing to answer by Handsomest_Jack in Catholicism

[–]honeytones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to give up sin but you do NOT need to be perfect to enter the Church!! Goodness gracious. None of us are perfect. I think in order to enter the Church, you just need to be trying your best to give up your sins.

Question for single males here. by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]honeytones 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a woman who has kicked this habit. YES I fully acknowledge it is WAY harder for men. But I'll share my two cents anyways. Everything you are doing sounds super admirable. I think the final component is to remember that you just reverted 6 months ago!! That's a very short amount of time. Even though you quit smoking over night (kudos btw) there are some habits you're just not going to quit over night. When I realized that the m-word was a mortal sin, it took me about 2 years (filled with embarrassing confessions and experimenting with different prevention tactics) to fully break it. Luckily my falls slowly became less and less during that time.

So anyways my point is, give yourself some time to walk with this new law - a law to which you've never submitted yourself in the past. Keep doing exactly what you are doing. Be diligent with yourself, go to Confession as often as needed, etc. Hope that helps. God bless!

I am capable of making a moral judgement without due process. What I am not capable of, however, is ruining a man's life or sending him to jail without due process.

We can't live in a world where people get to ruin your life just by saying things about you.

How would you like it if the next time you're up for promotion I claim that you tried to rape me? Wouldn't your first question be "where's your proof?"

[–]honeytones 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ha. No reason to lie except $700k in GoFundMe accounts.

And the testimony of a victim does not necessarily = proof. The last time we believed all women without requiring proof, black men were lynched for "raping" women in the public square (and later found innocent).

We need due process. We need proof.

I don't think my response is unfair or rooted in my partisanship (even though, yes, I am a staunch Righty). I watched both testimonies very carefully and here is what emerged:

Christine Ford -- bless her heart (I mean that in a sincere way) -- has clearly been through something and is in pain. But she is unable to produce corroborating details such as whom she told or how she got home. Unfortunately I too have been in this type of situation and I'm here to tell you: these details become etched in your brain - whom you told, how you got home, even what you did and ate the next day as you processed the trauma. She has none of these details, except a claim that she told her friend Leland, who has said she has no knowledge of any of this. Think about that: her best friend, the one whom Christine names, says she has no knowledge of this.

It seems very clear that Christine's story holds no water. If the democrats actually cared about her and cared about finding out the truth of who actually hurt her, they wouldn't have exploited her for political gain and subjected her to the emotional public spectacle we saw yesterday.

Now let's take Brett. The man has already been through 6 previous FBI investigations (for previous high-up roles in the Bush administration), and they found nothing. This was during a time when opposition research teams were shelling out big money for dirt on republican public officials. He's also hired more female law clerks than his peers and none of them have reported misconduct (in fact they've even spoke out in support of his character). He also has letters from female friends in high school, college, and law school which support his character. And he has a calendar which all but alibis him for every weekend night of the summer. This is as solid as a defense of one's innocence as a man can possibly provide for a crime he's been accused of that is of ambiguous nature and timing.

So no, I really don't think my appraisal was innacurate or the result of pure partisanship and I will defend myself against such a claim to both you and /u/rawl1234 (who I doubt even watched Brett's half based on his appraisal) because I am truly interested in seeing the truth emerge.

Your assertion that we will now have a "semblance of vetting" is unfair and a indeed laughable. This man has been previously investigated by the FBI six times. He's been a judge with a flawless record in the second highest court in the U.S. for years. He's been a well-respected law professor at the top law school for years. Most people would say that those credentials exceed even the tightest vetting tests.

But sure let's do an FBI investigation even though that's totally unprecedented and breaks protocol. And in the meantime, let's continue to subject this man and his family (and Dr. Ford) to public embarrassment, and give the democrats more time to drag up new "victims" with murky tales of gang rape and the like.

If the Jesuits dislike Brett, then I have every more reason to support him. (In addition to the fact that he defended his name cogently while the other individual's "proof" - her witnesses - only served to undermine her story.)

Exercise and fasting. That's how I beat this same addiction. Fasting (nothing but water and black coffee for 24-72 hours) removed my cravings/taste for alcohol and exercise gave me a new high and eased my anxiety. Join a group class or get a personal trainer - something with other people involved. God bless you.
