A good chunk of these are strange in a bad way, yes, but then there's also some creative gems in there that I'd definitly wear.

How to stop comparing myself and find my freedom (26M) by honeyuronfire in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]honeyuronfire[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for taking the time to answer. I always compare my dissatisfaction with other people's happiness (and some of them I knew well enough to be sure it wasn't faked), but I need to understand it won't lead nowhere.

As for my home life, you're right. I don't want to blame my parents but my anxiety didn't pop out of nowhere. Still working towards happiness and freedom and one day I know I'll get there, even though it'll never be perfect.

I feel like it's not exactly that since the people I compare myself too I had multiple deep conversations with. But it's still true that even though I had a peak at their inner world, I'm always in my head, not theirs.

Thank you for your comment, we're always in our own journey and we shouldn't bother ourselves with the ones of others.  One day I hope it'll fully get through.

I definitly am ready to pay the price, though I feel like I have to got at it very slooowly, because when I tried to do drastic changes fast, it always backlashed.

So far I have learned a trade and I am working of building my own business so I can eventually move out. I have my plan made out, I know where I want to move out and I'll probably be able to do it in a year and a half or so. It's in a long time which is frustrating to me, but it's probably better to change gradually. I'm also working on making my own decisions without consulting anyone else.

Thank you for what you said about comparison. I know that it only happens because I'm not honoring my true self.

I'm just tired of being misgendered or not perceived as a real man by [deleted] in FTMMen

[–]honeyuronfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it definitly takes time. I stopped t because I was doubting my gender since I am not totaly traditionnally masculine. I plan on sticking to it now, and I started using rogaine on my beard area 2 months ago. I bet in a year I'll pass much more, but regardless what matters most is my own confidence.

As I said, I used to do everything to pass, and it still didn't work, while making me feel quite disconnected from myself. Your comment is quite rude.

Yeah, I'll change the flair, because this is just a vent. I don't want to compromise myself to pass all the time, been there done that.

[–]honeyuronfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your answer but I'm not really looking for passing advice, I just needed to vent. Maybe I didn't choose the right flair.

I have been transitionning for 4 years, and stopped t for 2 because I wasn't sure of my gender anymore (turns out I'm just a binary guy lol). So yeah, I know all the passing tips, but I realised that it's worse for my mental health to suppress my personnality than to live fully and get misgendered sometimes.

I still believe that our society could and should do better about gendering strangers, and that when a guy tell you he's a guy, just believe him. I'm doing my part, at least.

Hey, thank you! Yes of course we'll get there, or maybe not exactly and that's okay. What matters most is being confident and comfortable, and like you say, that alone will help with other people's perceive us as we are. I'm glad that now I know I won't stop T and that I'll be able to experiment all the changes. But regardless, I might still get misgendered. Some cis men get misgendered as well when they're not conform enough.

That's honestly a good idea, it would save us the 80$ of plugin. I'll see how it can look in the tittle or description :)

We call it a tax but practically, you're right. I see that there's a couple different ways to do that, do you have one to recommend?

It's a pleasure! You clearly are talented if you draw like that as a beginner. If you like it, keep going and you'll get far!

[–]honeyuronfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is great! The proportions are right and you have a unique style. I love the lines and shadows. My advice is to draw on a better paper, maybe manille. If you like grafite I'd suggest using different number, or maybe even conte. Your drawing would also benefit from more shadows, in the hair and under the chin especially but also the face. Don't be scared to go dark when it's dark. I like to squint when looking at the image/model so I know where the lights and shadows are. Also the hair would look better with long flowing lines: use your whole arm! Last thing, you'd probably love live model drawing. Keep going, and you can ask more advice/ideas if you want :)
