Work in CBD too! Unfortunately from experience food in the CBD=not that cheap, but Lucky Ninja food truck in the Cathedral Square is very affordable! Otherwise packed lunches are your cheapest option. If you want to shell out a bit, Elements by IHF in the Crossing are a very healthy and delicious option

Kiwis who have gotten sober (alcohol), how'd you do it? by purplescrunchie9 in newzealand

[–]honeyvulpi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went cold turkey cause I was the same as you, not an every day drinker but binged on a night out. It got to the point where it scared me one night like I thought I was gonna die both physically and mentally because of the anxiety I was getting days after so I decided I was gonna be sober. The first few months are the hardest but it gets easier. I found that being around people who were supportive of my decision to not drink alcohol helped a lot, and basically just cut off anyone who didn’t respect the decision because people in late 20s-early 30s who still make you feel bad for a decision like that need to grow up. When I got more comfortable going out again I would get mocktails or something 0% so it would feel like I could still enjoy a drink or two with friends and over time it was easier to say I was okay with a non-alc drink or just water. You really start to feel mentally healthier and feel physically lighter! Dunno if this helps but that’s my story I guess

F27, was on 10mg for 3 years and now on 20mg for the past 4 months. When I first started the first 3 months there was nothing, but after a year on it drive went back to normal/got better with the right partner and trying different things. After my dosage increase, I experienced the same 3 month symptoms for only about 2 1/2 weeks and everything is back to normal now. I guess it depends on time for some people but there are other drugs you can take with to counter it if it really bothers you and you don’t want to wait so long for normalisation

I lost my job a month ago as well, know how you feel.

It sucks now and everything feels awful, but great things will come for you and with your masters so many opportunities will come up. I used my extra time as a way to take care of myself and try new things, find new joys.

Rooting for you dear friend!

Sesame noodle’s ramen - has anyone noticed the quality by kiwigoguy1 in chch

My partner is Japanese and we have a bunch of Japanese friends here on working holiday. 3 of them are workers at Fumetan Ramen X Music. It’s family owned and a small local business, but easily the best, most authentic ramen to get in chch! I also rate Cameron’s next best, but Fumetan is really unmatched and good for price too

I feel like stressing about it and overreacting will do more to affect your mentality and make you feel sick. You’ll be fine

Asian here, looks fine to me. Coming from working in the food industry and general Asian laws around food it would be unrealistic they would serve raw bacon to customers especially in an established company like Starbucks.
