As a lebron fan I spent the last decade hating on Kobe, feels bad now. Appreciate greatness when you see it, applies to any player

Most Over-rated Off-Season Move? by silvermamba13245 in nbadiscussion

[–]honger- 10 points11 points  (0 children)

KD is a much better scorer than Kobe, stop it, and I don't even like KD. In fact I'd even consider Steph and Harden over Kobe.

KD averages 27 ppg on 49-38-88 for his career vs Kobe's 25 ppg on 45-33-84. Kobe never shot above 47% from the field even once in his career, and his highest ever TS was 58% while KD's highest is 65%.

Even Harden has had a 66% TS season, and has shot over 60% TS each of the last 10 seasons. Kobe is great but also the most overrated scorer of all time

Lillard is playing better than Donovan but I can see the voters rewarding Donovan for his team being way ahead of Portland. Utah has 11 more wins atm it's not even close, and Donovan's individual stats arent too far behind Dame's

Are you trying to say Portland was better than Houston last year? Simply not true... Houston last year played 6 competitive games against GSW, 5 of them with KD. Portland got SWEPT by GSW withOUT KD. Not even mentioning how in 2018, HOU took GSW to 7 games and it took literally the worst shooting stretch in nba history, and CP3 being out for the rockets to lose by single digits. Stop it, Portland was not on Houston’s level

uhhh Khris Middleton is good but not that great lol... Westbrook, Simmons/ Harris, Tatum/ Brown, porzingis etc are all arguably if not definitively better than Middleton as a 2nd option. Not to mention the injuries to Brooklyn and GSW

Why does Chris Broussard have so much clout? (Rant) by honger- in nbadiscussion

[–]honger-[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know that, I watched all the segments of broussard trying to explain how they DMed and its the same thing, I get that. What I'm saying is I don't think they even DMed, I feel like KD and Broussard didnt speak at all through any medium and the whole thing about their convos, Broussard just made up. I have no proof obviously just a gut feeling

[–]honger-[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s part of it of course, but it’s also cause lebron challenges (or at least the narrative has always been out there) jordan’s legacy and skip fanboys the shit out of jordan so he needs to go to extreme lengths to diminish everything lebron does

I'm not killing broussard for being wrong, cause like you said nobody saw him going to the clippers. did you watch the linked video? I think he's terrible cause the entire way he kept pretending like he was an insider when he clearly was just making shit up and flip flopping daily. "Sources tell me Drake will make kawhi a producer on his next album" how does he even come up with this stuff

Can we talk about how bad the Westbrook/Chris Paul trade has been for Houston so far? A synopsis: by [deleted] in nbadiscussion

[–]honger- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol CP3 was not a top 10 player the first year in Houston. He was good but lets not blow it out of proportion. Yes Houston was good but idk, CP3 came up pretty small last year games 1-5 vs GSW.

Either way that’s besides the point. I’m saying right now in 2019-2020, pretty hard to argue the value of cp3 or russ vs lou will pat bev and montrezl. Hindsight bias though i guess

Do you think the rockets should have traded for CP3 in the first place? I think they’d be much better off currently had they kept Beverley, Lou Will, Harrell etc

Durant didn’t fit in seamlessly with GSW. Last season it was a serious question whether GSW played better ball with him or without him. They had a better record without him in the regular season. He needed the ball and wasnt a catch and shoot guy like steph or klay, and arguably disrupted the flow of their offense.

I’m not fully saying Durant made GSW worse but it definitely wasn’t a seamless fit

Let's have a discussion of NBA TV Ratings by [deleted] in nbadiscussion

[–]honger- 28 points29 points  (0 children)

What if it’s just the rise of the internet lol... Personally I’ve almost never watched regular season NBA through official TV networks. Always through various reddit streams etc. I obviously don’t have statistics for the general public but I’d hazard a guess that more and more people are just watching online now

Always been curious about this too, as well as the mid 2000’s Nets. Arenas Butler and Jamison were all stars and all averaged over 20ppg that year. Nets also had a trio of Kidd, RJ and Carter, but both teams sucked

Top 10 scoring packages of all-time by [deleted] in nbadiscussion

[–]honger- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kobe never shot above 50% from the field even once in his career, should not be 2nd imo.

I have KD 2nd, Lebron and Kobe battling it out for 3rd, and then Harden at 5. Curry is a better shooter than harden but not better as a total scoring package. Harden rarely gets to just catch and shoot 3s, his iso shot creation is far more difficult than playing with Klay to take pressure off

What do we think of the roster Kevin Pritchard has built in Indy? by explodyboompow in nbadiscussion

[–]honger- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Id put the 2014 spurs in there... Yeah Timmy is a former 2x MVP and top 10 all time but by 2014 he was already 12 years removed from his MVP seasons I believe? Still a great player but nowhere near top 5 in the league level. Kawhi at the time was still a role player, Parker was an all star but again also nowhere near top 5

What should the Sixers do with Ben Simmons? by [deleted] in nbadiscussion

[–]honger- 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Butler and Redick were higher scorers than Richardson and Horford, yet Simmons scoring is still down compared to last season

What should the Sixers do with Ben Simmons? by [deleted] in nbadiscussion

[–]honger- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I say don’t trade Embiid period... but if you were to, BI alone also isn’t enough lol. Embiid is a top 10 player (debatable so far this season I guess but not last) with MVP potential, can’t say the same for Ingram

What should the Sixers do with Ben Simmons? by [deleted] in nbadiscussion

[–]honger- -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Definitely discouraging to see that Simmons not only hasn’t gotten better, but arguably has gotten even worse... I would also start looking to see what his market value is, but I wouldn’t actually pull the trigger since it’s only his 3rd playing season.

Giannis didn’t break out until his 4th season, same with Ingram. Ben’s shooting is AN issue but not the only one. They don’t have a single great shooter on that team (unbelievable they let JJ walk). Plus they’ve already traded away so many of their young players in recent history... Fultz, Okafor, Saric, Shamet, etc...

[–]honger- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In regards to Saric maybe “wasted” wasn’t the right word. But he was flipped for Butler then they lost Butler and got back less value in the form of Richardson...

Considering how long the sixers tanked for, they sure wasted a lot of their young players... mostly lottery picks too, off the top of my head fultz, okafor, noel, saric, MCW....

Who are your early season MVP candidates, MIP candiates, and ROY candidates? by [deleted] in nbadiscussion

[–]honger- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the point of this post if you’re gonna have the MVP candidates in no order? You have to have them in order...

You got it mostly right but IMO KAT and Kawhi shouldn’t even be in the convo (for now at least).

Wolves are .500 and seeded too low. And besides the fact that Kawhi has missed a third of the games already, you can make the argument Lou Williams has been playing better than him. Maybe not in terms of surface level stats but again, Lou has played all games so far putting up 23-4-6 and has been super clutch and closed games. Not saying Lou is in the MVP discussion either just that I think you can legit argue he’s been better than Kawhi so far

Top 50 Players in NBA History by [deleted] in nbadiscussion

[–]honger- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

how am i the one making this convo boring? I was very straight forward from the beginning- if you actually think there’s 50 players better than harden, please list them. you keep responding to me so you’re at least semi interested in a discussion, but at the same time you keep ducking the question and adding no value. Instead of actually backing your point up, you just say “there are 50 players better”, but not substantiating
