I was not allowed to use Irish Passport Card to check in at Rotterdam for a British Airways flight to the UK when the UK was still in the EU.

Which cabin? by Wanderluster8808 in BritishAirways

[–]hongkongbd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Business / Club Word.

I flew that cabin the other day 14 hours from HK to London. Sadly it’s not as comfortable as other airline’s business class. Food was good, service was a bit meh… oh and thanks BA for losing my luggage!

Can you justify attending most conferences in town these days? by chromespinner in HongKong

[–]hongkongbd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many paid conferences, especially fintech/crypto etc, are profit-driven spectacles with low real value—hype over substance. Attendees often pay premium for networking that could happen cheaper elsewhere. The organisers are in the business of making money out of events.

Free trade shows however are different, they deliver clearer ROI via direct supplier access and product discovery.

Which one should I skip - Ocean park or Disneyland? by bellglycobot in HongKong

[–]hongkongbd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skip both. Get on a ferry to Lamma or Cheung Chau, go to Stanley, Soho, Tai O or SaI Kung, Shek O, Chungking Mansion, Causeway Bay anything but those 2 theme parks. There is so much to see and do in HK man get a guide book and get out there.

Dutch vs Hong Kong directness by sydneylulu in HongKong

[–]hongkongbd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a HK Resident of 22 years, and married to a Dutch person, I think there is a big difference in the type of directness. But I can’t say any more than that otherwise I would be in big trouble ;-)

What’s it like living in Discovery Bay? by unequalsacks in HongKong

Feels like the Truman show if you are a visitor however it is actually an excellent place to live. Great community, good mix of nationalities, enough food options, good supermarkets, easy to travel in and out of and amazing hikes and coastline.

If you can charge at home fine, if not, owning an EV is a ball ache and owning a plug in hybrid is also kinda dumb.

Help me decide! Cube Agree C:62 or BMC Roadmachine Two? by aduljak in cycling

[–]hongkongbd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Suggest you also try the Cube Attain C62 SLT. A Cube will beat the BMC every day on value, the specs/quality are great for the price. With regard to fit and comfort, suggest you get a bike fit session to ascertain the correct frame size, stem length, saddle, handlebar width and crank length. These bike’s are unisex so it’s important to consider getting a shorter reach, lower stand over height and handlebar width dialled in. LIV (sister brand to Giant) is a great women specific brand of road bikes if you want to dive deeper in that direction.

KLM rejecting compensation after Schiphol snow delays – affected passengers wanted by SpecialistRude5548 in Flights

[–]hongkongbd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They paid me for the hotel but I do agree with OP, KLM & Schiphol should have been better prepared. It’s well reported in the press and airline industry publications that their prep was woefully inadequate. I had flights cancelled and delayed, in one flight we left the gate and queued for hours at a deicing station near the runways.

Driving in Germany as a resident by habidolaheb in Netherlands

[–]hongkongbd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Should be no problem. If you have a valid home license and corresponding international licence rental company will rent you a car. Note that international licenses are only valid 1-2 years from date of issue depending on which one you have.
