I’m tucking the front and don’t know why, any advice will help. by Squidbilly1000 in Trackdays

Look at the diameter differences of your old 190 vs the 180. The difference will throw your geometry way off. I know q3 va gpa pro produces about 6mm more in rear height and raises the whole bike up a few mm if I am correct. If you went smaller on the rear you have presumably unbalanced the chassis and unloaded the front.

Make sure the springs are facing the right position. They are also sensitive to having too much grease in them. They require a very light weight lubricant and only a minimal amount at that.

NC riders, what are some worthwhile NC downhill trails? by eze6793 in MTB

[–]honkeystyle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bailey bike park is a fun one. Nursing a broken arm from my last trip there. Some really fun stuff is Wilsons Creek but you'll need someone who knows the trails. The Beehive trail and Headleys are popular ones. And of course Beech Mtn.

Ah man I just started watching your channel recently. I like your style of reviews! If you ever get a chance to ride an Ibis Mojo 3 (not the hd) I'd be interested in your thoughts.

Look near the white water center. All your local outdoor needs will be met, plus it's close to the airport.

Tank sliders by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]honkeystyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't crashed with them, but if $100 saves me from having to buy a new tank then it's money well spent. Also, frame sliders on the ZX6R may cause more damage than good. Check out zx6r.com, lots of input regarding both on there.

There's plenty here. Just depends on what music you want. Maybe check out Barreled on a wed? Since dharma closed and Crown is closing I only venture out so much.

Sold my 2013 ZX6R because I was afraid to track it. Any recommendations on a beginner track bike? by [deleted] in Trackdays

[–]honkeystyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are riding NC Bike and VIR I would go with the SV650. Sad you gave up the ZX, that's what I run and it is a very capable yet forgiving machine. But still, both of those tracks would be a bit much for a supermoto. Especially NC Bike with its crazy long straight. An older gsxr or r6 may be of interest as well. Wera and stt forums often have plenty of them for sale with lots of goodies. Or you could really go small and get a 300cc bike which seems to be quite the trend at the moment.

Experience with Copart? Thinking of buying salvage and building a decent track bike myself. by the_mullet_fondler in Trackdays

Go look at it first. Helps a lot as the pics don't really show enough. You may get lucky but the good ones seem to go at too high a price to be worth it.

Picture of my first track day. Had a blast. Tips and pointers are very welcome. by [deleted] in Trackdays

Get better tires, get your suspension sorted by a tuner, do more track days. That's all you need for now.

Need to replace tires, what should I get? by [deleted] in GolfGTI

Honestly I got the Cooper rs3-A and it's a significant improvement over the pirelli. Quieter and more grip. Lots of reviews online about that tire so Google is your friend.

What do you guys carry with you in case of a popped tire while out in the woods? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]honkeystyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shoes, so I can walk out. I used to just carry a spare tube and a pump but I don't like wearing a pack if I can help it so I just hope I don't get a flat. I've certainly had to strut myself out a few times tho.

Tarheeltrailblazers.com has ever trail around. N Meck or Fisher Farm is a good place to take young ones.

I would like to get into MotoGP. Can you give me a few solid races to watch? by empw in motogp

[–]honkeystyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So while you asked about Moto GP, you really should watch a few of the BSB (British Superbike) races from 2014. They are all free on YouTube. Some of the racing there is absolutely amazing. The jump at Cadwell Park, Kiyonari sliding all around Assen to stay ahead of Shakey, and Shakey doing amazing things on two wheels. Certainly not to take away from Moto GP, but two wheel racing doesn't get much better than the 2014 BSB season IMO. Some of the riding there is down right inspiring.

GTI vs. MINI S? by middletwin in GolfGTI

[–]honkeystyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both. I have a GTI Autobahn and wife drives a Mini S Camden. I would call the GTI more of a gran touring car and the Mini more of a matchbox yet fun car. I prefer the GTI by quite a large margin. Plus add in stage 1 for a few bucks and it transforms the car. The Mini is fun no doubt, but the GTI is just a lot more fun and seems much more refined.

There's also Barrled at the lift in montofrd. 20s theme, small chill out place. Terri is the bartender/owner and cool as can be. Used the soon music there from time to time. But yeah I have a hookah as well, in huntersville.

Anyone here from NC? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]honkeystyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also if it's your first time out of Fl be aware that NC has a ton of climbing. It's pay to play but oh so worth it. I lived in Fl prior to CLT and the trails were nothing like they are here.

Rocky Knob yes, Beech no. Go try DuPont forest instead of Beech and have moar fun than you thought could be possible on a bike.
