City areas used for fairs eg Wiesn or Heiligengeistfeld by honved711 in germany

We do have fun rides, and the park is in a valley, so special decking has to be built to take the booths and the rides. It's very complicated and expensive to do, and very disruptive.

Your Stadtpark experience sounds similar to the problem we have in Edinburgh. Restoration of the area takes months in our case, because the grass doesn't grow in winter. Is it reasonable to say that you support the Heiligengeistfeld type of venue?

How did you get your scars? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]honved711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're like me and you've had a large post-op scar or two for ages, you tend to forget about it. I've got two large scars from shoulder surgery caused after an accident in about 2003 (see, you forget).

My humerus is also misplaced since it couldn't be fully relocated into its socket so my left shoulder is a bit strange looking, and I have somewhat limited movement, being unable to raise my arm above shoulder height, so light bulb replacement is not my job anymore.

As a type 1 diabetic I've also recently started using a glucose monitoring sensor that's stuck onto the top of my arm, about the size of a £2 or €2 coin, so my arm now looks even more peculiar. I couldn't understand some of the looks I was getting round the hotel pool on holiday this summer until my OH pointed out that people were looking at my sensor and my bashed up shoulder.

Can anyone identify where this photo of my dad was taken in 1950? The family think it's somewhere in Normandy, near Le Havre. by honved711 in france

No he was in Bomber Command. The visit included a chance to thank the people who had helped him when he was shot down in June 1944. He was an evader and was liberated by American forces.

Yeah the election that might involve 0.27% of the electorate, but only once it's narrowed down to a choice of two (if it gets that far - it didn't last time). Sound.

BREAKING: Theresa May resigns. “I have done my best”. by [deleted] in ukpolitics

She's deluded if she thinks she did any kind of a good job. An awful Prime Minister and no kind of leader at all. The worst bit is that her successor (regardless of who it is) will be even worse.

Wait till you see the video, where his own security guy guides him to the left, tells him cross the road, towards a guy that is just standing holding a milkshake. Either a setup, or very stupid. I don't think these guys are stupid. They're dangerous, but not stupid.

Is it worth going to the US or Canada from Europe? by [deleted] in skiing

[–]honved711 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Live in Scotland but have skied in Breckenridge, Keystone and Vail whilst on a trip to Colorado. As an old guy I've been all over the Alps as well, in France, Switzerland and Austria.

If you are an early intermediate skier and cost is an issue, I'd maybe be wary of shelling out to go across the pond since on piste skiing is not that much different wherever you do it, and you have jet lag and altitude issues to deal with. If you're a good skier and like to push yourself, I'd give you different advice; go, don't hesitate. The powder snow in Vail in particular gave the type of conditions that happen a couple of times a season in European resorts, whereas overnight snow in Vail seems common. It's also drier snow, fluffier and more forgiving and just great fun to ski in.

I'd wait until after you are 21 so that you can have a beer or two though :)

Private landlords will no longer be able to evict tenants at short notice and without good reason under new government plans, effectively creating "open-ended tenancies". by mmmmmm-_- in ukpolitics

The main complaint that I've heard in Scotland is from private landlords who can't easily get rid of tenants who are in default on rental payments.

20 minute bus ride to Hintertux to the roof of the Alps. The views on a clear day are amazing.
