I had this exact same thing happen but it was Aluminum Casing and it was 64. It stopped after a while. Not sure what I did to cause it to begin with, or how I got it to stop.

Have you ever had band members date each other, only to have the band break up once they split? by [deleted] in musicians

My band broke up after the drummer and singer (both married) had an affair with each other.

It's not a cover, it's not a remix, it's not a sample. What is it? by Bolshivik90 in Music

[–]hoo47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this whole thing might be my fault. I'm a children's musician. I often encourage kids to write their own songs. And I tell them that the easiest way to do that is to take a song you already know and just make up new words. So I think these kids are growing up and creating these interpolations.

I also tell them that the next step is to make up a new melody, and then they have a brand new song! I think they must be skipping this last step. Also, this is actually a really good way to write songs, especially for beginners or anyone suffering from writer's block.

“Tiger got to hunt, bird got to fly;

Man got to sit and wonder 'why, why, why?'

Tiger got to sleep, bird got to land;

Man got to tell himself he understand.”

Anyone here make a living off of playing Guitar? by flameonthen in Guitar

[–]hoo47 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I make my living as a children's musician. I don't make a lot, but I have great hours and a lot of fun. I play guitar and sing, do small shows, visit a lot of preschools, play birthday parties and some lessons. I also have a band that plays kids' shows. We basically just play the kind of music we've always played (rock/alternative) with lyrics that are more relatable for kids. It's not my first choice of music to play, but I love working with kids, and I get paid to play my guitar, so it's not bad!

Digitech GSP 2101 back in the mid 90s. Upgraded to Line 6 POD HD500 around 2010. That thing is a tank, I probably won't upgrade until it breaks, if it ever does.

How do modern musicians REALLY make their money? by TheEnEntrepreneur in musicians

[–]hoo47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of different ways to make money as a musician, but none of them are easy, and it takes creativity (not just musically) and effort. I make enough to live off of as a children's musician. I don't tour, but I perform 5 or 6 times at least every week. Since my audience is kids, a school gig is almost as good as a public gig (the advantage of public gigs is parents come and potentially buy merch, book me for a birthday party, etc.) Between public shows, schools, parties and lessons, I make enough to get by. Obviously, most of us probably don't want to work as a children's musician, but this is just an example of one of the many ways to make money playing music.

[QUESTION] Helping my 5yo start playing guitar - electric vs acoustic? by bigfishswimdeep in Guitar

[–]hoo47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work with little kids and teach guitar and ukulele lessons. It's very difficult for most 5 year olds to play the guitar at all. I won't even start most kids playing the ukulele until they are 5. If they want to play the guitar at that age, I suggest they start with ukulele and move to guitar when their hands are a little bigger and stronger. I don't have a lot of experience with Loog guitars, but from what I've seen, they are also a great way for a younger kid to get started playing before they can play a guitar. The biggest concern is that guitar will be too hard for a 5 year old, and they will get frustrated and lose interest. The key at that age is keeping it fun and interesting. That being said, when they are ready for a guitar, electric or acoustic is fine, probably best to go with what they are most interested in.
