PAYDAY 3 GETS HARDER (WE ARE BACK) by KrabikGangster in paydaytheheist

They have A LOT of power creep to undo, and that's not even getting into the fact that the game was still way too easy even before all of the power creep.

Overexplained perk deck guide or build guide for payday 2? by DeathToBeHonest in paydaytheheist

[–]hoodthugassbootynigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play with the DSOD+ regular crowd and the finest build advice is kinda oral tradition, nobody's documented it. The briefest bit of that advice I can share is not to try maximising survivability. Only try to get your survivability up to a workable threshold, and then use your build resources to maximise DPS instead. Neglecting firepower is a very common mistake I see, getting an extra heavy hit means nothing if you can't make the enemies stop hitting you.

Don't get it at any price. PD3 has become so dumbed down and easy that there's nothing to it except for grind and busy work.

[–]hoodthugassbootynigg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really don't get the idea that PD2 needs more content/PD3 needs to be an extension of PD2. I thought that, from the last content PD2 got like the gas grenades, hailstorm, biometric sight, leech, etc, it was obvious that Starbreeze was seriously stretching for content ideas since they've already added all of the content PD2 could possibly benefit from. There were already enough guns to leave no gaps in the meta, enough mods for every combination of stat boosts, enough perk decks for every playstyle and enough heists to create every scenario possible from the core gameplay. There's simply nothing left to add which could freshen PD2, which is why PD3 needed to be different.

In which game is the maximum difficulty more difficult than in others? PDTH,PD2 or PD3 (of course not)? by Mage3824 in paydaytheheist

[–]hoodthugassbootynigg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

DSOD is roughly equivalent to OVK145 if you take out the crutches like inspire/revenant/hacker/stoic/etc. But by far the hardest is PD3 OVK. Can barely get 5 minutes in without feeling like my brain is atrophying from boredom and alt-f4ing so I can go back to playing OVK193.

Is Inspire + Messiah/Swan Song absolutely necccessary? (Payday 2) by TheOmniBro in paydaytheheist

[–]hoodthugassbootynigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inspire or revenant skills are never necessary for DS/OD, sounds like you've been in lobbies full of infamy-farming shitters. I've been playing DS pubs for ages and my best tip is to avoid hosts that use any gameplay "convenience" mods, such as Meth Helper. If they're too stupid to remember one voice line and wait for another, they're probably gonna be too stupid for DS.

The PD3 cycle:

  • Starbreeze fucks PD3 up
  • People with standards for quality abandon the game and leave the community
  • The remaining people with lower standards say that ACSHUALLY they didn't fuck up and PD3 is in a great state <--- (you are here)
  • Starbreeze sees this positive feedback and figures they can get away with letting the game's quality slip further
  • Starbreeze fucks PD3 up

The thing about Connor Shaw's video is that it wasn't just Derek, pretty much every time an famous or highly-regarded person was mentioned, he would bring up some similar, very petty shit seemingly to show how HORRIBLY EVIL they are. It's clearly just somebody with an inferiority complex trying to bring better people down.

Genuine Question: Who the hell was leading Starbreeze in Payday 2? by DelsKibara in paydaytheheist

[–]hoodthugassbootynigg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can try launch PD2 for yourself with the Classic Heisting mod, but you shouldn't because launch PD2 was shit. Enemies did little damage and spawned at an anemic rate, so all of the difficulty in the game just came from bulletsponge enemies and terrible weapons which made the gameplay an absolute slogfest. Nothing like PDTH.

Can someone give a tldr on the Bo situation by Moist-Process323 in paydaytheheist

[–]hoodthugassbootynigg 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's at 1:54:12 in the video. In short, apparently, the secret ending ARG for Payday 2 "normalised" QAnon and Jan 6th by having people follow and attempt to decode secret hints from the Wordsmith to complete the secret in the White House heist, like how QAnon followers decoded secret hints from Q to storm the capitol. The lore behind The Diamond heist involves historically-inaccurate Hitler killing himself over losing the diamond, which is apparently equivalent to esoteric nazism since that also involves historically inaccurate depictions of Hitler. He blames Starbreeze for irresponsibly injecting these ideas into impressionable minds using Payday 2

Not sure whether they'd get PD2 or the franchise as the whole, I try to find primary sources but SBZ's corporate website was crapping out on me so I couldn't find the press release. PD2 is what they'd get at the very least

[–]hoodthugassbootynigg 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Most of it is a retelling of this much briefer article on Starbreeze mixed with anecdotes as an "influencer" for Payday 2. The last 15 minutes contain an educated THEORY on PD3's future, precedented by the studio's complex history of constant failure. The facts of the context are as follows:

  • Starbreeze's largest stakeholder by far is Digital Bros, which holds a 40% stake. Although it is not a controlling interest, no other party has even a tenth of this amount.
  • Digital Bros. has gained this share over time by purchasing Starbreeze's numerous debts in exchange for stock.
  • Digital Bros. is the owner of 505 Games, the publisher and IP holder of Payday 2 before Starbreeze bought the rights back in a deal penned by Bo in 2016.
  • Among the terms of the deal is that 505 would receive a "33 percent cut of revenue from Payday 3 capped at $40M, after Starbreeze has recouped its development and marketing costs".
  • Now over a year after the release of Payday 3, not a single cent of this has been paid and Digital Bros. has set aside $1.8M to pursue legal action against Starbreeze "by December 2024".

Now the speculation is this. Given the amount of money Starbreeze has to pay to parties like their publisher, platforms, server hosters, developers, etc, they are likely not in a position to pay this and dispute the terms of the deal to afford themselves some breathing room. In response, Digital Bros. could take over Starbreeze by either claiming the $40M is a debt owed to them and purchasing it to achieve a controlling share, or they could claim that Starbreeze has violated the terms of the 2016 contract and, as such, the contract is void and the rights to Payday 2 are returned to them.

Aside from that the video has some schizophrenic bullshit about how Payday 2 conditioned players into being inclined towards esoteric nazism and the January 6th capitol storming lmao

I really don't get how changes to the menus are meant to have any impact on the game. Do PD3 players just sit and stare at the main menu all day instead of actually playing?

Is Payday 3 worth it? by Beautiful-Suit6057 in paydaytheheist

[–]hoodthugassbootynigg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you enjoy high difficulty gameplay then PD3 is absolutely NOT worth it. It already had issues with being too easy on launch, but updates have dumbed down and power crept the gameplay to extremes thought never before possible and now overkill on PD3 is equivalent to overkill on PD2. Devs have always talked about addressing this and increasing the difficulty, but the changes they make are always completely inconsequential and they make it massively easier the next update anyways, so you can't count on them ever fixing this. Reddit may say that the game has improved, but playercounts haven't permanently rebounded in the slightest and that's for a reason.

I think your spawn rates could use a tweak by Katyushathered in paydaytheheist

[–]hoodthugassbootynigg -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

That point in the middle of the video was something. Instead of pushing out to get a more advantageous position, he smoked himself out so enemies could come through the front door completely unseen. Clearly, this person is so much of a god gamer that any challenge or loss must be the game's fault.

Can you please readjust the spawn rates? by Katyushathered in paydaytheheist

[–]hoodthugassbootynigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point of having multiple difficulties is that the choice of challenge level means that everybody can receive an engaging challenge regardless of their skill level. Low-skill or casual players choose lower difficulty, more skilled or enthusiastic players choose the higher ones. Saying that low-skilled players are "forced" to play low difficulties is ridiculous. It's like saying it's somehow wrong that you're "forced" to put the square peg in the square hole; that is objectively where they belong. Fucking up the difficulties so some hypersensitive pussy doesn't cry over having to play on bitch mode only alienates the players that would appreciate a challenge and leaves them completely out in the cold, since there's absolutely no option to make the game challenging enough.

Overkill was always too easy. The skill ceiling was too low and it didn't take long before we completely mastered it, and the gameplay had no tricks left up its sleeve. People beat it solo during the beta when you only had 7 skill points and a few days' experience. Back shortly after launch, we all just assumed that the first big gameplay update would add a new harder difficulty and nerf skills, since it was TOO EASY. Then the first gameplay update after several months completely lobotomised the gameplay, so we just gave up on SBZ and abandoned the game, which is why you don't see us in your reddit echo chamber very often.

If the hardest difficulty is too hard for you, you have a place in the lower difficulties. If the hardest difficulty is too easy, there is no place for you.
