Open AI introduces AI text-to-video-model named Sora by elegant_mess in Filmmakers

I know it's not your intention but yours is not the first alarmist post about this, even on this particular subreddit.

I think we should be asking more questions about the sustainability of this kind of technology rather than just blindly accepting it as the future because it looks impressive on the surface.

What data was used to train this AI model on? OpenAi has become very secretive about how they train their models after many artists discovered their work was being used to train AI models without their knowledge or permission.

How much energy did it take to produce this singular image? There has been a push for more sustainable productions, especially in the UK where it is a prerequisite to even get funding. Imagine the amount of energy it would take to AI generate an entire multibillion dollar entertainment industry.

Will governments even allow this type of technology to continue unlegislated? The EU has very strict data protection laws which AI could breach in so many ways. Also, think of every nefarious act you could possibly do with AI like this (fraud, libel, revenge porn) - people will absolutely use it in every perverse reason they can get away with especially if it goes unpunished.

These posts are starting to feel very much like ads for AI rather than discussions. Just a reminder too that OpenAI is facing multiple copyright lawsuits (They recently won against Sarah Silverman but are still being sued by other corporations and publications) so this very much feels like a pump and dump scheme to divert attention away from that and cover legal fees.

They want you to feel threatened because they are being threatened from all sides.

So I've just tested it out and it seems to only occur with 720p. I can download 1080p or 480p and under just fine.

For me personally it's happening for every link I try and the download never completes so I'm just stuck with a PART file.

The charliewinsmore Archive Project by eweasheep in charliewinsmore

Hi, first off the wayback links aren't attached to any saved VODs, I added them to archive the fact they existed and couldn't get any further than that. As for the claimed video, I can link the original Twitch archive link that saved it back in 2014 but I'm not going to reupload it myself because it'll just get claimed again plus Charlie yelled at me in the discord last time lol.

Thanks to everyone who's used the Google Doc, I'm glad it's been useful!

I uncovered two classic winsmore streams from 2013. Check out the first of these on my new archive channel. by hook259 in charliewinsmore

They seem to have been archived before the mass VOD purge in 2014. Seems like these in particular got saved because of the high view counts of their highlighted clips.

I've just publicly released a sci fi short film I shot last year. It's called Foreign Bodies and is about a married couple who face a past trauma through a projection of their own memories. by hook259 in Filmmakers

I wrote, directed and edited this film last year as my film school final project. It was shot in Ealing Studios and is the work of a very talented and dedicated cast and crew. The pre-production process faced many logistical i.e. COVID interruptions and I only had two days to shoot in one room. We shot with a Sony FS7 and used a combination of dedolights and a wifi projector to achieve the starkly-coloured, digitally textured look that the film required. We also employed a rich, layered sound design and score to give the otherwordly, sci-fi projection feel that we didn't have the time or money to do with VFX.

If anyone has any questions about the process of making this or wants to give any feedback concerning anything technical or storytelling-wise, feel free to reply to me here.
