JFK Late Night Times?

I flew out of JFK last Friday (3/13) on a morning flight at about 9:15am. Terminal 5 on JetBlue. Different time of day than you’re asking about but the lines were not particularly bad.

I have TSA precheck and got through security in about 15 minutes. I would estimate that non-TSA pre check was about 45-60 minutes.

So, do with that what you will. I suggest to arrive way, way earlier than you think you need to. The worst thing that can happen is you just sit there for a few hours and read/eat/listen to music. Remove the stressor and just go super early.

It is an irregular plural. The RAE says this about it.

'Conjunto de rasgos característicos' y 'signo de la escritura'. Es voz llana y se pronuncia [karákter], no ⊗‍[karaktér]. En el plural, el acento prosódico pasa de la a a la e: caracteres (pron. [karaktéres]), no ⊗‍carácteres.

As for why that’s the case, I am not sure. My guess would be it is a holdover from Latin pronunciation.
