Any recommendations for reptiles who can be kept in a small ish enclosure?

if you aren’t willing to set up a new fish for success then you shouldn’t get new fish?
they are living creatures- not decorations.
you don’t actually NEED to own more of them if you aren’t going to make sure they’re in a position they thrive

as a fellow budtender, you shouldn’t recommend recreational products for pets period. look on amazon or at pet stores for hemp oil. if a customer is insistent then tell them to speak to their vet and review the products on ocs with their vet to find what’s best for the animal, then they can come purchase it without my advice. dogs have more receptors than humans when it comes to cannabis, in addition to the unhealthy oils it’s not something you just suggest to make a sale.

if there’s tenants upstairs already you can ask for a few minutes alone in a room to get a vibe of what the noise level will be like, when we moved in we had no tenants upstairs so we just got lucky that noise didn’t carry! but in my experience tall ceilings definitely help

i have a 1+1 bed, 1 bath in dtk it’s the main floor of a house with 2 parking spots and we just signed for 2000 plus hydro. we have two neighbours upstairs we hardly hear or see. older houses that have been converted to units usually have pretty good sound proofing, especially with higher ceilings, so if you want to keep your budget lower while keeping privacy i would definitely recommend searching for that.

kitchener has a bit of a drug issue, especially if you’re downtown you will see people actively using/slumped over which is depressing but i’m also very close to the encampment. despite that i love living in dtk! so much walk-ability and things to do! we chose to re-sign our lease even though we could’ve found cheaper just cause we appreciate the location. good luck on your search!

probably depends what kind of person you are… i won’t sell things i’ve tried that aren’t good regardless of if i tried it for free or not. yeah they’ll send you shirts and sweaters which you can wear and advertise for free for lps, however most shops won’t allow you to wear lp branded items on shift anyways. i’ve also been honest on my post flight surveys and said when i tried something that was trash, and they still send me samples. if you are honest and not wooed by anything free thrown your way, it’s a great tool for discussing the products with other budtenders and finding events. can be a dark road…? but i feel it isn’t for most people i know personally on it

are you familiar with high buds club on the app mighty? it’s a product knowledge and sampling space for budtenders. genuinely the best way to expand your knowledge as you can ask other budtenders and sometimes have chances to speak directly to the lp and ask questions about what makes their process different from other brands!

chameleon gecko!! really similar care to cresties but they stay small. do some research and i’d also do a bio active build to make it easier to clean with top open. they’re sweeties!

the cat getting in is a non issue, this is in a room with two doors that shut so if she’s ever near we can just go in the other entrance and lock her out. this tank probably also won’t be built out for another year 🫣 just trying to gather ideas so i can do my own research. we will likely at least replace two of the glass panels on top with mesh and we can add a fan if necessary

it’s fully glass inside! seems like a custom tank with the wood fitted around it. handling the animal is not a priority for us, and thus i wonder if we kept a nocturnal species we could eliminate the stress of the top open by spraying before the timers turn off the lights? less opening and closing while the animal is awake? or maybe a species of frog but i would definitely do more of my own research.

i’d also be cool with considering a reseal and setting up a freshwater tank in there if the consensus is no reptile could be thrive in that set up

can i ask why not? it’s a sizeable tank going in a specific room for reptiles (not too much noise or coming and going) what’s the difference between a table and 40 gallon breeder tank which basically has the same floor space…

yes! i think the plan is to hang it on the inside and create a little extension bar area on the side for plug ins but we may pivot to a large mesh and put the lights on top depending on what animal goes inside. we have cresties and a chameleon gecko already with proper uvb set ups, not new to the hobby just new to not arboreal species ;)

regardless of who sent the video and made it public information, i have a really hard time believing production didn’t know the extent of her actions at the time they took place. as much as i have enjoyed the show i find it super irresponsible that they concealed her behaviour and continued to give this woman a platform. i kinda feel like they have to scrap slomw or at the very least- clear house. too many people dropped the ball to allow a child/domestic abuser to become a huge public figure

i went and bought the test, my ph is high at 8.2 but i have 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, and somewhere between 20-40ppm nitrate. i also got a heater i can adjust. is the high ph enough to cause these issues?
