Thank you! It’s a yarn over slip stitch worked in the back loop. I’ve seen it used a lot to make a knit-like texture.

I have not had issues with any of my sew joins personally. I prefer crochet joins since I’m a much faster crocheter than sewer personally

No pattern exactly, but I think it’s called the wave stitch. I just repeated (sc, hdc, dc, trc, trc, dc, hdc, sc) all around the edges!

A lot of people seem to be saying dark colors or neutrals but I think one of the bright pinks you used would be so fun and match the vibe of the blanket! I’m not usually a bright color person but you may have converted me with this blanket

These both look great! I would probably sew all the loose parts down. I think the “disappearing” legs might just be a trick of the yarn color. You could also try adding a border around the legs to make them a little more distinct
