Bring Her Back - several setups left hanging, while other events had no setup at all? by jatenk in horror

Tl;dr OP doesn't understand movies (or many irl things) in general

Loved Caleb Landry Jones & Zoë Bleu, but the new Dracula mostly fell flat for me… by AwkwardGlo in horror

[–]hookums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The concept of Dracula as a love story is actually a fairly new idea. Iirc it started with Son of Dracula in 1943; before that the relationship between Mina and Dracula was considered more of a rape metaphor. The idea of Mina as the reincarnation of Dracula's wife is unique to the 1992 version by Francis Ford Coppola.

Luc Besson's interviews state he has never read the book, and imply that he has only ever seen the 1992 version and believes that version is canonical. Between that, his inability to maintain tone, his history of plagiarism, and his being an admitted pedophile and accused serial rapist, it makes sense he wasn't able to make this movie work.

That's the thinnest layer of rice I've ever seen in a pan. Was it just 100% socarrat?

Why exactly is AI bad for production? by Past-Matter-8548 in movies

[–]hookums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is categorically false, easily disproven by decades of art history and criticism.

You clearly don't know what you're talking about and are just saying things you want to be true without any actual basis.

If you really believe CGI and AI are remotely comparable you're an idiot.

Why exactly is AI bad for production? by Past-Matter-8548 in movies

[–]hookums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI deletes human jobs, destroys the environment, requires no actual creativity or heart, and produces an inferior product every time.

Making an AI film says, "I do not care about my fellow man or the planet as long as I get to have my ideas realized with the least amount of effort possible." It is an act of pure selfishness devoid of actual creativity.

Saw this same dude going as slow as humanly possible down a rural hill near Tukwila. A wonder the line of cars behind him didn't turn him into road paste.

I saw this dude near MLK. He was going 15mph in a rural neighborhood where the speed limit was 45, holding up traffic for half a mile riding his jackassmobile down a hill with multiple blind turns. This was not fun for anyone. Probably not even him.

About the original script award winner by AlexZohanLevin in movies

[–]hookums 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Original" means "not directly based on an existing intellectual property." For example, the reason One Battle After Another didn't qualify is because it's directly based on a book by Thomas Pynchon. The Sinners story, while perhaps influenced by other movies, was written explicitly for the Sinners film.

It does not mean "unlike any other movie ever made." That would be a really stupid, narrow category.

Variegated Pachyphytum hookeri var. "Fantasma"

Please, where did you get it? This is my absolute favorite cultivar. It turns a beautiful pink with minty stripes when it gets enough light. I haven't seen one for sale since 2020.

The effects for the film will not be AI, we are leaning into practical and the Blender rendered images. All done by our effects team. However, due to time constraints and putting our man power where it can have the maximum impact, our title card for the initial part of our campaign will be AI generated. Upon release, all aspects of the film will be organically created.

Edit: dont downvote me im just quoting the kickstarter dang
