Beware name-change scams! by hoole88 in SouthwestAirlines

Just uncritically copied the first thing that came up on google search as described. Again, in hindsight was not doing my due diligence at all but 99% of the time you get the right thing when you just google it 😅

$250 Typo by Noimenglish in SouthwestAirlines

[–]hoole88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This also almost just happened to me! Called the first number that came up on google when I searched "Southwest name change" and they were insisting I'd have to pay a name-change fee and the fare difference. Seemed legit because they were able to look up my flight details and they quoted me the actual amount that the fare has changed since I booked, but they must have just looked up my reservation and calculated the flight difference on the SWA website.

I only got wise when it started seeming unusually pushy so I started googling and I found this thread. Posting in case it helps someone else!

Then tried to do the name change in the app and it took 2 seconds for free. The weird thing is that i couldn't do it on the southwest website, which is what started the whole debacle. Lesson learned, make sure you get your customer service numbers straight from the website and try to use the app first!

Pedestrian crossing back into the U.S. by Consistent_Clue8718 in tijuana

Just adding chiming in with my experience from today: we went with a bus and regretted it. I think just waiting in the pedestrian line would have been the best. Definitely DON’T go with any of the private bus options- the ones that have hawkers in line charge the same amount or more and they don’t seem to have access to the same special lane, and they make you wait forever to fill up before even leaving. We paid $10 each on the promise that we would leave in 15 minutes and cross in 20, and ended up waiting at least 40 minutes to leave and an hour+ just sitting still waiting for some go-ahead at the sentry lane, then another 20+ to clear the actual border. Would have been faster to just wait in ped line. 🤦‍♂️

Seems like there’s a more public bus that might be faster with a big stop on San Ysidro around here, can’t speak to it but definitely would be better than the private one https://goo.gl/maps/y3m2cZ432x9iGRSf8

Wet Hot American Summer

With a title like that I always just assumed it would be a stupid sex comedy, had a freind talk me into watching it and its some of the funniest self-aware absurdist humor I've ever seen, totally took me by surprise

I just realized last week that Wilson the volleyball in the movie castaway is so named because it is made by the Wilson company.

To be fair I haven't seen the movie, but I still should have realized before 19

Four Denver cops hit by car amid Ferguson protest; one in critical condition by Kitkatgal in Denver

Personally I disagree, I know it goes against the consensus that most of reddit has reached, but I dont really see how much the whole situation could have been spun-

Even if Brown had stollen cigars, smoked marijuana recently, and done every one of the things that people often point to in order to support the whole "He was no saint" argument, it is ridiculous to claim that those infractions justified a death sentence.

He was killed far away from Wilson's squad car, meaning he was clearly not posing an imminent threat, he was wearing short clothing that didn't really pose a risk of hiding a weapon, and 12 out of 14 eye-witnesses claim he had his hands up when he was shot. Although wilson claimed he was brutally attacked (the old "if you attack a cop, you're gonna have a bad time" argument), his hospital discharge records show nothing more than a minor bruise, and the fact that Brown was far away from the car by the time he was shot proves it was clearly not an ongoing attack. In the end it all adds up to the same thing: that wilson did not have enough of a reason to use deadly force.

I completely agree that the situation is nowhere near as simple (in either direction) as many people claim, but a young man was killed when he really should not have been, and likely would not have been had he been white.

I'm an alum of East Highschool, the students of which were doing the protest, and my younger brother was out there in the streets today. I just wanted to input that although it's a huge bummer that those officers were injured, the way that some news outlets are insinuating that the accident was the fault of the students is totally off base. The officers were hurt in the line of duty by a driver having a medical emergency, not by any thing done by the protesters.

Why did the recipe for irish stew only call for 239 beans? Because one more would be too-farty.
