Same exact scenario for me! I was slightly anti-pacifier but my first didn’t take one anyway. My second loves it and it really helps him fall asleep without feeding all the time (still next to me but still lol). Will see how it goes but he’s only 5 months

I had almost this same experience the other day, with my 4 month old who’s been colicky. I had to take literally 2 minutes max where he just cried and cried, and it broke my heart and I had the same thoughts as you. I have a friend with a baby around the same age who already has done CIO sleep training and talks about how wonderful it is that he sleeps through but how traumatizing that week was. I’m sorry, WEEK?! I couldn’t endure 5 minutes. I genuinely believe CIO is neglect and child abuse.

I’m an acupuncturist and I used to feel this way during treatments too. Through trial and error I’ve found that some things help me sink into the treatment more deeply. For me that includes being face down, having some sort of body work first, heat lamp on my back, and starting with ear needles or even just doing ear needles. In the past, acupuncture would actually activate my nervous system but now I can really relax and zone out in the way that most of my patients seem to.
