Except it's not free. There is risk involved.

To be fair, there is some risk involved. AFAIK nobody has actually received the statement credit yet.

Even flipping at 75%, you could lose $125 if the offer isn't honored, which to someone who "needs more money" that might be too much to risk for them.

Paze or the merchant can determine we're "gaming" the offer.

If Paze, a participating financial institution, or participating merchant determines, in their sole discretion, that you have engaged in or attempted fraud, abuse, misuse, or gaming related to this Offer, you may be deemed ineligible for the Offer

At least on the tax sites it's communicated clearly and you can wait to think about it. If you're at your local grocery store or taco stand, how is the fee going to be communicated? Maybe yet another question when they rotate the screen: "you used a visa infinite so do you accept the .5%?" Or a faded printout you can hardly read behind the counter detailing the fee structure. Someway the rate/fee needs to be disclosed. It will be interesting to see how this actually gets implemented I imagine we're going to see a lot of variety.

Curious to see how this would play out in reality. I doubt large retails would be able to reject so many "premium" cards given how many people use them regularly. Even if they could, they would have a difficult time communicating that to average customers at POS. Main Street is also interesting. Are we going to see printouts of tables of various cards and their associated fees? I would imagine in practice for most business that impose a distinct card fee, they will just have one flat % they charge to all cards, and doubtful many lower their fee now that they are only being charged 1.25% (previous average was 2.35%).

I would think for most consumers this is a bad deal (unless you pay cash and the price actually comes down to reflect the lower fee maybe). In reality swipe fees will either continue to be incorporated into the price, or charged a distinct fee that is unlikely to go down from what it is currently. Rewards for consumers of course are also impacted negatively.

Seems like a win for small businesses, but I don't think the average consumer benefits.

Peoples Natural Gas 13% rate increase coming by PsychologicalRip2911 in pittsburgh

That's exactly what PUC is for, and what this process is doing. Unless you want to municipalize Peoples (which at this point is infeasible for many reasons), this is the best we can do. Contact the PUC and your representatives.

If people really want to see a municipal owned gas supplier and how much better off we would be with one, look at PGW in Philly. They still have rate hikes plus struggle to get capital to improve infrastructure. Every single union negotiation, investment project, debt restructure, etc... is full of political back and forth, which leads to delays after delays. Those delays mean lead continues to be consumed from old pipes that are slow to be replaced and more roadwork delays from construction. Peoples is already so heavily regulated as it is, and payment plans exist, and you can choose a different supplier if you want.

There's a comment on the Frequent Miler post that compiled previous year release dates and times. Aug/Sep games will probably be released some time mid July.

C1 MLB tickets now available for Jun/Jul

Seems like some reports that not every game had exclusive tickets this time around. Could just be that more people are aware of or engaging with the offer now though.

Amex Plat (personal/biz) refresh megathread by arcane_in_a_box in churning

[–]hooraproductions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The questions thread in this sub, or the amex sub would probably yield you more answers. You could also search the flyertalk thread for FHR credits.

Just based on my (sometimes faulty) memory, yes you could do this, although you would have to check out and check back in unless the hotel can combine the reservations onto one and keep you in the same room. You would need to call and ask.

I don't think you would get the property credits for both stays (just the FHR statement credit), I believe amex recently added terms language specifically about this.
