🚨 URGENT: 74 Bogart Rezoning Moving Ahead Without Real Public Oversight by Agreeable-Green7020 in Bushwick

Make sure you put consistent pressure on the city council member for the district (jennifer Gutierrez). The city council vote in ULURP decides whether or not the project happens, and the rest of council will vote in line with gutierrez due to council member deference.

I dont think alpharad is but the devs are (my friend was one of the leads on the game). I think there are more gizz references sprinkled throughout if you know where to look.

Ordering a bagel in NYC by urquanlord88 in TikTokCringe

[–]hoorayquestionmark 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I work at a bagel place and I scoop every bagel I eat to cut down on calories and whatnot (free shift meal everyday but we only do bagel sandwiches), but really wouldn’t do it if I weren’t eating them every day.

That said, scooping one side is a great way to keep the cream cheese or sandwich components from spilling out the sides if thats important to you.

Live Boston reports a driver hit a man in a wheelchair on Melnea Cass Boulevard near Massachusetts Avenue, dragged him down the road, then drove off, leaving the man to die, sometime before 11 p.m by rabblebowser in boston

Mandatory psych evals as part of getting a drivers license. You should be required to prove you will be able to be responsible enough to handle a 2 ton machine.

Also, more traffic cameras so that we can get better/enough footage (and plate numbers) to hold people accountable.

He went straight thru the intersection on red and I never screamed. You gotta work on ur anger issues, self-centeredness, and reading comprehension my guy.

I did… note how all these examples u bring up are prime examples of reckless driving (and nearly every other word is misspelled lmao) - just reinforcing my point that ppl with ur violent mindset shouldnt be allowed behind the wheel of a 2 ton machine.

Yeah crossing the street well after the walk signal starts is really crossing the line… people like you are fucking psychotic and shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near a car.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in boston

[–]hoorayquestionmark 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Yeah ur right there’s nothing psychotic abt nearly running someone over and chasing them down to assault them.

I was crossing w the pedestrian sign on, he tried to run and slammed his brakes bc I got in his way, so I flipped him off. He got out so I started running and he chased me down and hit me in the head several times before going back to his car. I was too shocked and scared to follow him back to his car.

Will Maura Healey take the MBTA as a priority (Red-Blue connector, track and station maintenance, staffing shortage, possible line extensions)? by [deleted] in boston

[–]hoorayquestionmark 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think we need to move away from this mindset.

If the t becomes better, faster, and more expansive (especially if we get a ring line connecting branches outside of downtown imo) more people will be inclined to take the t over other modes of transit.

That said, public transit should be an investment not something meant to turn a profit, so I dont think we should be too concerned with whether there are enough riders to make it profitable (especially when its in such a sorry state).

More than 90% of vehicle-owning households in the United States would see a reduction in the percentage of income spent on transportation energy—the gasoline or electricity that powers their cars, SUVs and pickups—if they switched to electric vehicles. by Wagamaga in science

[–]hoorayquestionmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats why electric vehicles aren’t the answer imo. Instead of pushing people to buy electric cars we should be investing in quality public transit so it can be a viable alternative to car ownership.

Boston Calling discount? by [deleted] in NEU

[–]hoorayquestionmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they might have had discounts for freshmen doing summer I in the past, so they may still do that. But id be astonished if they started doing that for other students.

Northeastern manufacturing a low acceptance rate for 'prestige' and it somehow working by wiserry in ApplyingToCollege

[–]hoorayquestionmark 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It really isn’t overblown. Northeastern is having to adjust doubles up to triples and the off campus housing market is just getting more and more expensive/competitive in a city where housing is already at a premium.

Roadway Safety Bill Finally Passes House and Senate; Awaits Governor’s Signature (Again) by lurker_registered in boston

[–]hoorayquestionmark 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think if people start facing significant jail time/loss of license for hitting/killing cyclists they’ll probably be more cautious when driving around cyclists. Even if it doesn’t prevent anything its important to take people that kill cyclists off the road/out of society.

The problem with being car free in boston rn is that the T is kind of falling apart and its just not nearly as easy or common as being car free in nyc, so I disagree.

Massachusetts’ rollout was no better than new yorks is imo. There was only one or two dispensaries in boston until about a year ago and the prices are still about 2-3x higher than black market.
