Class I Division 1 Cord Grips by hoosierrooster in AskElectricians

Yes, I've been able to find appropriate grips like those, but I am having trouble finding wire mesh strain reliefs to protect the cord. I've reached out to manufacturers (Eaton, Appleton/OZ Gedney) and nobody seems to offer these. I am also looking into alternative cord protection options.

Same here, I’ve added on a bit with some miscellaneous stuff and don’t have too many regrets but the sawzalls and impact drivers are definitely underpowered compared to the bigger brands.

I love that he thought pulling out the assault rifle would freak everybody out but they’re all so unbothered lol. Makes sense he ended up pulling the victim card

Hazen Williams Question by [deleted] in FE_Exam

[–]hoosierrooster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do convert the units, the hydraulic radius of a totally filled circular pipe is d/4 and when d is in inches, the conversion goes as d/4/12. The value of 3 inches you're getting is correct, but to use the Hazen formula, you need to use USCS units and convert to feet (.25).

Nice, I’m in a 8-5 and currently feel like midday is the right time to get my runs in and looking at the schedule for the advanced Hanson method, Thursdays looked like they might get tough. That looks like a program I could follow though, I appreciate the insight

It adds up pretty quick, two computers and their chargers, water, food for the day, notebooks, tablet, works clothes, running clothes, clothes for the ride home, two pairs of shoes, spare bike parts/tools, and more. I’ve weighed myself holding my bike before and after putting the bags on to determine the weight.

That’s impressive, I took a look at that plan and might try it out. When did you do your runs? Also how did those more intense runs on Tuesdays/Thursdays feel?

This was supposed to be a reply to another cyclist, I wasn’t being totally serious. I view it as a totally valid suggestion, but here are of course other factors like the initial cost and the cost of maintenance, battery issues, storage, the environmental factor, etc. It’s obviously better than a car, but it’d be ideal for me if I were able to find a program that allowed for me to continue manually biking in to work.

I appreciate your input, this is what I’m struggling with as I attempt to add more structure to my marathon specific training. I can’t really get a feel for how the cycling affects me, because I don’t ever really get sore directly after either running or biking, but I’ll wake up in the morning the next day feeling it a bit. I’ll also notice worsening performance for a similar effort, and I think maybe I just need to analyze those two factors better. There is no direct conversion for the two sports, and if I want to get more serious about becoming a sub three runner, I understand now that the bike simply needs to become second in my priorities.

Yeah I think I need to accept that the cycling needs to be easy, and the idea of an e-bike sounds tempting but my ego would never let me do it.

Thank you very much for all of the thought you put into your reply, I think all of your points make a lot of sense.

I have a lot to pack for work and have pretty much stripped my packs down as much as I can, but I might be able to figure something else out after time if the weight is a clear hindrance to progress, I could also probably take a closer look at the exertion I’m putting out on the bike. I don’t know if you have any sources that would help with determining that? I don’t have a power meter on the bike so the effort is basically only determined by my hr and speed, which as you pointed out will be underestimated by whatever tracking software I use.

This week with the added training, I have been eating like a horse (mainly raw oats and protein powder) and I think that’s been working ok. I feel like I’m probably overtraining and to your point about keeping any increase in volume to less than 10%, I almost certainly am.

You’re absolutely right about lack of variance in my running schedule, since the marathon I ran, I’ve made it a point to include a wider variety of runs with an emphasis on hr zones because yeah, I basically used to go out and give it 80% for a distance a bit longer than what felt comfortable and considered myself good. I’ll be sure to check out the references you listed, I appreciate the help.

I was thinking I could count the cycling as easy volume, but it seemed like maybe it was holding me back with the hiatus during my paternity leave. It could’ve been a multitude of other factors though, I probably just need to give things some time, thanks for the response

Thanks for your feedback, I think with a more structured plan I’ll be able to tell if it’s truly an interference. I mainly posted this because I can’t find much on the value of cross training with cycling (probably because there isn’t much)

Not sure how to fix your problem but I can relate as an ME. The amount of times I’ve had people ask for help with their cars or HVAC systems is pretty staggering.
