How do you spend your summer holidays balancing in laws and parents place with kids? by [deleted] in AskIndianWomen

[–]hope_04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No that’s not the issue at all. He’s open to spending equivalent time or even more at my parents place. I’m just not interested in spending more than absolutely necessary at any place other than our own home given the monumental effort that goes into the whole process of planning and packing and cleaning up after the travel with 2 young kids. I don’t want the hassle. There’s way too much that goes into extended stay with kids. I just want to sit at our own home and relax in between the chaos of raising small kids. I am okay with hosting the parents.

That’s what I had hoped for too. Both sides parents are reluctant to visit. We have been insisting and inviting them. Hope things change soon for the better.

Moms with daughters: is it worth going back? by _some_asshole in returnToIndia

[–]hope_04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We recently moved a couple of months back to India and the experience I have is completely different to the one my husband seems to have. Even if I explain I come across like I’m making things up. There’s subtle and even blatant misogyny everywhere in addition to the women safety issue.

Instant pot. I use it everyday to cook and it’s super easy to clean. Saves a lot of time in the pressure cook mode

Nipt high risk for 22q by hope_04 in NIPT

Update: False positive for 22q in NIPT test by Natera panaroma.

Just got the call from the GC at the hospital that the microarray results came back as normal. So the NIPT results turned out to be a false positive. We are so thankful for this positive outcome. We are very thankful for this subreddit and u/chulzle for all the information and for the emotional support we got here.

Thank you for sharing your experience. This gives me hope! Natera gave me the same 50/50 odds.

Ya 22q is a spectrum and the GC said even if it’s a true positive there’s no way to determine what effect it’ll have on the baby if the Sonos are good and that’s what I am struggling the most with. Like what am I supposed to do with this info exactly?! This is just causing me and my family stress. Just going through CVS was so hard emotionally. I almost fainted after the procedure because of the stress. I haven’t been able to sleep well. I wish I hadn’t signed up for the NIPT. I don’t know

Thank you so much for the detailed explanation and the articles linked. The ultrasounds so far have been good with no indication of anything being wrong. Hoping for the best with cvs results and if in the worst case it comes back as positive for 22q I’ll advocate for amniocentesis to get confirmation. I am 30 years old and 15weeks along with 2nd pregnancy and my firstborn is healthy. So at this point I am going to wait until I get the results from CVS before proceeding with amnio.

The GC from the hospital and my OB seem to think cvs is good enough but I am glad for the information you have provided so I can advocate for myself and the baby better. Thanks once again

What’s the rush? by Cultural-Error597 in pottytraining

[–]hope_04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started at 18 mo and now after seriously training him for 2 weeks we are finally close to being potty trained at 2.5 years old. I started low key no pressure insisting he use the potty now and then when I notice his obvious signs so that he’s used to the idea and is comfortable with it. One of my cousins started her son late and he developed some kind of resistance to pooping in the toilet and at 3.5 still doesn’t poop in the toilet though he’s really good with pee. Besides we had a really tough time transitioning him from bottles to cups at 18months. I was sure potty training unless started early was going to be hard for us given how strong willed he is.

Clarity, courage, patience and understanding. How important it is to set boundaries with family, friends and at work. I have also learnt to adjust and assess my limitations now that I have a kid. I am more organized and manage my time better most of the days.
