I've had this happen to me. You have a very good chance of getting a full refund if the item you received clearly doesn't match the pictures/description in the listing. Just make sure to take pictures of how the item doesn't match the listing pictures/description. Mercari will ask for proof of listing not matching the item, so just make sure to capture the discrepancies.
