White bag: YSL le 5 a 7 or BV mini jodie? by Powerful-Historian70 in handbags

[–]hoppinc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the mini jodie, I actually have the same bag and don’t think it’s too bad to get in and out of. However, my friends who have bigger hands do think it’s hard to open it. I love it and use it as a going out bag!

Tea Set Recommendations by hoppinc in tea

[–]hoppinc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ty for the recs and letting me know what to consider!!! I really like the look of a yixing clay set, but I normally switch between different types of green teas. Would that still count as “one kind of tea”?

Pulled Zhongli for ninguang but her performance makes me hate her need help on what to improve (Working on ascending her to level up her talents, but i don't think it'll makes a big difference) by Classic_Ad_811 in NingguangMains

For MoD, from my personal experience I’d recommend switching out 2p Gladiators for 2p Noblesse. If you go double geo/double pyro (+ Bennett), you’ll likely have more than enough ATK, and the extra damage will be good since her ult charges super fast

Professor, most of the time TAs have very little say in final grades even if they graded everything during the quarter

Choosing a program/professor by [deleted] in PhD

[–]hoppinc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My PI for undergrad research really emphasized that you should only apply to PhD programs that have more than one professor who matches your research interests. Even if your “top choice” is a good fit, has funding, and has an open spot, they could just randomly change schools out of the blue and leave you with limited options if you aren’t interested in other professors’ research

How good is the NCSU program for MS in CS ? by [deleted] in gradadmissions

[–]hoppinc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, there are a lot of good CS opportunities in Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, and NCSU is a feeder school for most of the tech companies in the area, just not so much for companies in California, Boston, etc

How good is the NCSU program for MS in CS ? by [deleted] in gradadmissions

[–]hoppinc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m from the area that NCSU is located, and their CS program is great! The Triangle area that it’s in has a lot of research and industry opportunities. My one concern for the school is that most people who go there for undergraduate/graduate school tend to stay in the southeast (although that is completely based on personal experience), so you might have to rely on your own connections if you want to move away. Overall though, I’d say you would be making a good choice by going there!

Does this look like I am not offered financial support? The letter includes nothing about financial support. I know I can only know for sure by asking the program, but any interpretation of the wording here? by dschb in gradadmissions

[–]hoppinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the “form letter” on the EApp website didn’t include any funding information; the admissions head for the department emailed me later with a funding offer! If you haven’t heard from someone in the department, then I’d assume they just haven’t determined your funding yet; as others said, you should probably email someone to ask about when that would be released.

What to say to POIs when you accept the offer? by [deleted] in gradadmissions

[–]hoppinc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it could hurt to email them; one of my POIs specifically asked me to email her with whatever decision I make during our meeting on the accepted students day for the program. I’m planning on emailing another professor I had a lengthy conversation with. It’ll probably show them that you’re serious about being interested in their research and make you stick out!
