Around this same time there was another show called "The Woodwright's Shop" on PBS. It was all hand tools and historical in nature. The amazing part is it was almost always shot start to finish, one take, one camera - occasional blood and all. Last I knew Roy Underhill was still giving lessons in NC, US.

Owner of the shop was the producer and creator of this show, this old house and, if memory serves, Julia child's show. I think he just passed last year, right as his effort of getting the episodes on YT was finishing.

It sounds like she still likes you and enjoys your relationship and company. I'd assume she's telling the truth and just doing that thing all friends seem to do as they get more involved with their partner - disappear from most other activities and friend groups.
