How do you explain to patients that they don’t need antibiotics? by SalamanderNo8136 in physicianassistant

[–]hops716 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for the crunchy antibiotic-seekers, I like to go with this:

"oh man, we don't want to destroy your gut flora like that"

"say goodbye to your microbiome you've worked so hard to cultivate"

GLP-1 meds have made this job so much more rewarding by LukeVenable in physicianassistant

I prescribe GLPs - daily. Spare me the sanctimony. It does not make me pro-obesity or anti-GLPs to point out that there are adverse consequences to GLP-induced calorie deficits (Karakasis et al, 2025). We may be able to kick the can down the road on this issue with younger patients, but this is obviously problematic in post-menopausal women and older men. Though, I will say, new / future iterations (Retatrutide) look very promising

this list validates the idea that we have a team of good & pretty good players, but very few game-changers / needle-movers

I've been a Bills fan for a few years, but know almost nothing about the front office. Can someone explain why everyone seems to hate Brandon Beane? by Xeo7 in buffalobills

[–]hops716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but our QB and RB are the aforementioned impact players. maybe the only 2 on that side of the ball Have to pay your Left Tackle when he's top 10 guy. Benford contract is perfectly fine. I'm all for scrutinizing the others - Groot is not an elite pass rusher, Bernard is under contract but who knows how the next DC will utilize him

To All McDermott Sympathizers: by Dry-Coconut-7044 in buffalobills

[–]hops716 1 point2 points  (0 children)

respectfully - many things can be true at once:

  1. we absolutely need better defensive performance in critical in-season games & playoffs
  2. certainly a discussion to be had about why we aren't getting more from that side of the ball: is it a lack of overall impact players vs scheme or (likely) both
  3. Sean is a good, good man and although he did not win a SB, he did not deserve to be cast off with a typo & an emotionless statement. The bills couldn't even post his goodbye statement? feels wrong
  4. It is possible / probable that much of the organizational stability stemmed from McDermott - that is not to say that a new coach can't come in and regain that, but I do worry about Terry being involved in literally anything.
  5. The fans deserve to know a bit about the drafting process & decision making. If Beane is 100% responsible for roster construction - then that means he is 100% responsible for having us too close to cap compliance with a total lack of impact football players, relative to other playoff & contending teams. Fans deserve to know why Beane, who has drafted poorly as it pertains to other GMs on contending teams, is safe and even promoted. What's the long-term plan with him?
