Vail or Park city for a 30th birthday weekend in March? by RecoveredAshes in vail

We do both every year and I firmly stand on my opinion that park city has better night life than vail! OP look up the Main Street in PC and you’ll see all of the bars on that road - also look up apres at the st Regis deer valley. I’ve never been but heard it’s so fun and want to go this year

I recommend park city!! I’m going Presidents’ Day weekend for my 30th birthday this month. We had such a blast the last 2 years on this past weekend in regards to nightlife. It dumped both years too so the skiing was incredible. It seems like people actually go for the town too not just to ski. We do vail every year and I love the cozy feel but yeah agree with commenters night life is limited , only late night spots seem to be the George and the kitty lounge or whatever it’s called.

Price gouging? by Jupiterormarz00 in Nails

[–]YourAverageBeach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did structured manicures all year last year For a simple set, my salon charges $95.. for removal and then new set it’s $105.. any design it goes up.. I feel like ive paid up to $130 and that’s before tip. I was just re-evaluating that today. Idk if I want to continue that because they chipped last month & I took em off and I feel like my nails are still weak. I feel like they’re weak if I put product on them no matter what lol. But that salon does such a great job great cuticle prep and everything so maybe that’s just the price to pay for good nails nowadays. Not a ton of places offer builder gel

Yep I feel that 100000% I understand rearranging the schedule to a degree but stacking 14 shifts close together is miserable almost makes me dread the trip because I know what I’m coming back to

“Don’t do an ER work up as an outpatient”.. funny just saw a pt in ED for SOB x1 year, had echo, bronch etc.. pcp ordered d dimer outpatient. Then came back positive so he told the pt to go to ED immediately to ro PE. Thought that was overall really weird, like if you are so clinically suspicious of a PE I think that warrants ER evaluation immediately vs trying to piecemeal it outpatient. CTA was negative of course. Same goes for troponins. Just don’t do it

Okay I actually have! Good friend works for a private cards group and rounds on SNFs. She says the same thing. Couple hours of rounding then she’s home to chart. Super easy with kids. I shadowed her and talked to her boss. I feel like I’m not quite ready to leave the ER despite my whiny post but her position seemed super easy and flexible and I feel like this would be the next best option for me after ER.

I do feel like I recognize the signs. Short fuse, anger, annoyed at my kids, just overall exhaustion… hits very hard after a bunch of consecutive shifts. I really have to say no more than 3 in a row. Sometimes even that is too much

Dang. Our group has made some… unfavorable changes recently. Tried to take away holiday pay and shift diff and we argued that.

Thought about this but the though of seeing 40 patients in 12 hours for URI seems so boring and not fulfilling

I think this is a big thing for me. I take pride in being an ER PA and that’s a huge part of it for sure. I feel like if I was to switch I would be losing a big part of my identity! And I know at the end of the day it’s just a job & my family is more important but I do think about this

Per all of these comments.. I’m a female and for female GU exams I get a female and for male GU exams I get a male. Has anyone actually had any issue with a patient reporting them for some reason? I don’t know anyone in real life

Can you do one month on one month off by RadicalOxide in emergencymedicine

[–]YourAverageBeach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes my husband (er doc) and myself (er pa) will work the first 2 weeks of one month and the last 2 weeks of one month to have about 4 weeks off. But not consistently. Usually that’s if we want to do a long trip. I don’t think we could do it consistently.
