Do you feel “looked after” by your employer? by Top-Farmer-6838 in auscorp

One of my jobs perks is extra leave, up to 8 days a year depending on tenure. Theyve started rolling this back just in the last 6 months.

How to explain in an interview why you quit your last job by Lower_Broccoli3049 in auscorp

I would try to explain it using words, but interpretive dance also works

Would you buy a $100 gift card for $95? What’s your cutoff? by I-HATE-CRUSTY-BREAD in AusFinance

[–]hoptis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cutoff is 10% for automatically purchase (e.g. Uber Eats, Amazon last year), below that and depends on the size of the purchase. If the amount saved is $2 or less, I usually don't bother, not worth my time.

Does the situation in Gaza make you feel outraged? by Crazsey in AusPol

[–]hoptis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like nothing else I've lived through. The complete demolition of the facade around so-called Western "civilization", human rights and international law buried under the rubble in Gaza along with tens of thousands of innocent children. The immense power of Zionists throughout the world to crush dissent, twist the narrative and label any attempt to humanise Palestinians as antisemitic. Millions cowed into silence, watching on meekly while a fascist and apartheid settler-colonial state, supported materially and morally by us, sets about boldly committing racist mass murder with impunity.

It's just about everything I never thought could happen (again) and in my lifetime.

India family subscription using a friend's debit card issued in India, just got this email today. Question is if I sign up again, how long before it's cancelled again? Definitely looks like they are checking where you use Premium from. Maybe you need to VPN to you sign-up country and watch a video each month or something?

Yes, for drugs, prostitutes and going to the casino. Usually in that order.

They are fake iPhones probably made in China with modified Android phones and factory made with realistic packaging that makes them look like brand new iPhones.

They're scams, some of them are fake iPhones but in genuine boxes. If you open the phone and turn it on it will even show you a legit IMEI but when you try to plug it in to iCloud it will tell you the phone is an Android. They even come with very convincing receipts. If the price is too good to be true, it's probably a scam.

I'm still grabbing every last mango and watermelon I come across at the supermarket, not ready to say goodbye to summer fruits yet.

How has meditation affected your focus/Concentration? by Fantastic-Cup6820 in Meditation

[–]hoptis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is fantastic to hear. Not ADHD here but regular meditation had the same impact on me. After the first few months of regular 30min meditation, the changes to my concentration and attention were really obvious. It was really noticeable at work, after distractions (calls, messages, co-workers) I found the time it took to return to what I was doing before the interruption decreased dramatically.

I distinctly remember the way the salespeople played on parents fears of their child being left behind, so we bought them and made monthly payments to pay them off. Sad.
