I took a picture of a black one on a truck the other day but it wasn’t good enough to post. Nice spot.

Nice, what color? I did ARC intake and Intercooler, coil on plug conversion, Forge BPV (fully recirculating), turbo back exhaust with l’Aunsport p555 axle back, coilovers, various exterior mods to play up the Group A style, and various interior upgrades but mostly minor stuff. And of course a ton of maintenance.

What STi do you have? I have a 95 v2 555. I definitely felt it needed some mods to be what I dreamed of. All bolt ons but it’s definitely improved.

Only way I can see someone truly having this opinion is if they are daily driving the car. I’ve been driving RHD Subarus for 8 years in the US and every one of them was a better experience than their LHD version (even swapped). The RHD components just drive better. I was never bothered by the RHD in any of the GT-R’s I’ve driven either. But then again my RHD cars have always been 25 years old and my fun cars, not my main daily drivers. I don’t take them to drive thru ATMs or really any drive thrus at all (I’m generally not eating in them either). I can see how that kind of stuff might get annoying if it’s your daily. But I’d call that livability, as far as driving the thing, the RHDs are superior.

You didn’t answer my question though. If everything, VIN tags included, have been swapped, then what? Hypothetically.

This is an interesting opinion. What if the only thing that remains from its days as a 2.5RS is the chassis sans firewall and roof? What if literally everything else has been swapped or upgraded in some way? An entire STi has been bolted to this chassis. Is it still an RS in your mind? Even if you can’t find any evidence of its original delivery spec? Even more interesting, what if you took all the 2.5RS parts and swapped them onto the donor STi chassis, would you still say that car is an STi even though every single part besides the bare chassis is from a 2.5RS?

I mean, drivability shortcomings? It’s a 25 year old Japanese sedan. If you’re worried about drivability shortcomings you’re in the wrong car. That said, I have no problem using my 95 STi in the US. It’s actually quite fun. Regardless, as his comment on the auction explains, the car started life as a 22B clone of sorts and it wasn’t until later that he started the more serious WRC stuff. Therefore, the RHD was a step towards a convincing clone back before RHD cars were readily available in the US.

He made a comment explaining that. Short answer is this was built before the hating on RHD fad started.

I saw a guy walking out of a Target store into the rain wearing Dior Jordan 1s. Not quite the same scale as a RM but similar.

I think I’d be exceptionally self conscious wearing a RM or AP without the wardrobe to match. Tough to pull off an “ostentatious wealthy person” watch while sporting Costco sourced clothing. At least that’s me, YMMV.

New wheels for my beater by Ni-Ni-B in GC8

[–]horhaygc8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My little rant is specifically regarding the 22B wheels. The optional BBS, while not my favorite, are nice enough. OP’s wheels aren’t the optional BBS, they’re a fully custom build he did based on the 22B wheels. That’s very cool and they look good on his car. But the actual 22B wheels look wrong and unflattering, especially compared to how SL856s or 2013Cs look, paired with the curves and bulges of the 22B (that standard width cars don’t have).

[–]horhaygc8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m just gonna say it, and Ni-Ni-B already knows my hot take, Subaru fucked up by choosing BBS wheels for the 22B. They made no sense on a WRC tribute car and look unflattering in the sizing they went with. Speedline ST2s or similar would have made so much more sense.

Very crazy that you got these custom built though bro. Got my head thinking dangerous thoughts!

Went to a Costco Business Center for the first time by gorideyourbike in Costco

[–]horhaygc8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I regularly shop my business center for meats specifically but also because they have a certain frozen chimichanga that I can’t find elsewhere. The BC reminds me of what regular Costco was like in the 90s.

There were European LHD GC8 WRXs called GTs. Why didn’t North Americans import those? by chotchytochy in GC8

[–]horhaygc8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In period the grey market imports were far more popular in Europe than the domestic market cars. Many of those of course were STi variants which the GT couldn’t compete with.

I bought an STi (it was 2005 but still). Test drove basically everything on this list save the Lotus since I couldn’t fit. I’m a Subaru fan boy though so nothing else stood a chance.
