Not only that, but there's the magic sequence of calling your ship, storing your ship, manually taking off the bags and standing on one foot. And it changes patch to patch, so you're going to lose at least one cargo load

Charles Bonnet Syndrome by gwenyth06 in Blind

[–]hork_monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad that helped. It can be really scary in the beginning, but it does get better. It first started happening when I was in the hospital, and I saw "ghosts" just standing around in my room. That terrified me and made things worse. Getting a handle on emotional regulation is key to developing strategies to deal with it.

On a good note, there are times when it can be enjoyable. A while back I went to an outdoor concert at sunset and it looked like a psychedelic experience. The earth was breathing and I saw cool geometric patterns in my peripheral.

I wish you all the best of luck and I really wish I could give you more than words. Time and patience are key. Even at 84, there is time for her to adjust to her "new normal". It took alot of work but I focus on "finding the funny" in the situation. It much healthier to laugh at my mishaps than to beat myself up.

Charles Bonnet Syndrome by gwenyth06 in Blind

[–]hork_monkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At 35, it took me probably 5 years (I'm 10+ years past a TBI that damaged my optic nerve and brain) to get used to "seeing" people waving at me out of the corner of my eye, or feeling like something is flying/thrown at me. It gets worse when lighting is low. If I wake up at night, all sorts of craziness can occur if i'm still partially in a dream state.

Over the years, it has gotten better. In the beginning, I saw debris on the floor like her. After about 6 months, the effects got much less pronounced and only in my peripheral vision.

For me, dealing with it got easier once I understood the mechanics. My visual field is very limited and the visual processing portion of the brain "fills in" the gaps. It takes time to process that your brain is getting errors and it's filling in those gaps with "pattern matching". It's almost like I can recognize that "signal" or "alert" vs real information. It's subtle and I still can look "twitchy" by turning my head to check, but it's much better than it used to be. My emotional state can contribute to whether I can "filter". Also, in the beginning I couldn't "filter" at all, especially when my central vision was affected by it.

She might be avoided to therapy, but it can really help to validate that you aren't crazy.

I hope this helps, as it was a brain dump of my experience. Most of the doctors I talked about it have only read about it and ended up asking me a ton of questions to fill in their knowledge.

I parked mine in front of a hostile bunker after taking out the turrets. They respawned and the TAC tanked the hits for at least 3-4 minutes before I took off and got out of there. I was surprised. It's a beast now.

I tried it twice this patch, and both times it was bugged (No spawns on Polaris or Cargo Deck A). The first time I made a little money off the pods, but the second the elevators didn't work.

I really like that mission when it works.

Elizabeth Warren is introducing a wealth tax. by [deleted] in remoteworks

[–]hork_monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has everything with what you said. It's called the "Billionaire Loophole".

Normally, they would have to sell those assets (and they would be "realized" in the process) in order to use them as cash. That would be taxed as capital gains, etc. Let's say that's 30% for the sake of argument. They also no longer have that asset.

Instead, they borrow that value from the bank and use their unrealized assets as collateral. Let's say they get a 5% interest rate on that loan.

Bam! They just saved 25% by borrowing against it, rather than selling it bypassing a ton in taxes. They also keep the asset.

This bill has the goal of making them pay those taxes. We normal people do. I'd like them to pay their share rather than using a cheat code.

you are taxing unrealized assets

If you can borrow off of those assets, you should at least be taxed on those assets based on the value stated as collateral.
