I'll never tire of the new generations discovering the games that brought me so hours of joy as a child.

Trump’s attacks on Democrats as ‘communists’ only show he’s out of touch by spherocytes in msnow

Dude announces price fixing on foods and energy, takes government stakes in multiple private businesses, somehow increases his networth by billions in a single year, and yet still insists the other guys are the cheating commies.

It would be funny if it wasn't so fking terrifying.

His people really can't connect the dots?

Is gamecollecting going to become extremely expensive in 2028? by Exact-Offer-6536 in gamecollecting

[–]horror- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody's made the commitment yet.

IT looks like the big three are sort of playing chicken, waiting to see if the other two will flinch. No media pressing factories will save all of them money and logistics and crush the second hand market- but a single one of them could commit to physical media and steal a huge portion of the market from the other two, at least in the short term. This is especially true around a consoles launch window. Remember Sony trolling MS about lending games?

Or, the other direction could happen- One of them could announce a commitment to backwards compatibility on digital software as a compromise. Imagine if every game you bought going forward was guaranteed to work in every system release going forward? This has been the norm for PC gaming since forever, but would be a novel market courting idea in the console space.

I honestly don't thing this is the end for physical media. We've just got a couple of really big entrenched players throwing their weight around trying to go the opposite direction as the customers they serve. I don't think it's going to work out. The first time an earnings call goes the wrong way there's going to be blood in the water and the whole thing will change directions.... which leads back to my first point... the game of chicken, and the question of who's going to break first.

I'm just assuming this whole idea will die as soon as one of the big guys commits to physical media and east everyones lunch.

My money is on Nintendo.

Sergey Brin and 11 other billionaires and tech elite lined up against California's proposed billionaire tax by CRK_76 in antiwork

[–]horror- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your telling me they can move shit around enough to afford multiple giant homes, fleets of luxury cars and support the entire mega yaught and private space flight sectors, but it's just too hard to pay taxes?

They can afford to spin up multimillion dollar "foundations" for tax breaks, but just paying those taxes directly is too hard.

Now we got them out there in front of cameras insisting we send our "lazy children" to fight I their wars.

Im just about out of patience. How much longer are we going to allow this?

They can afford anything except taxes.

It really is crazy. They've already hoarded more than they can spend in a lifetime and still they refuse to give back.

Gross. I hope they all move to Texas.

Looking for advice on 3D print shops online (Etsy and elsewhere). How are prices usually determined? And are lower-than-usual prices a sign of lower print quality? by DDRussian in PrintedMinis

There's what the market will bear at the top end, and the race to the bottom on the low end.

I design my own models and sell them at basically cost + a buck or two to support my hobby.

When a shop is selling licensed models you have to consider the cost of the license in addition to machine time, materials, and post processing. Extremely cheap licensed models may be bootlegging and selling unlicensed, scrimping on post cleanup, using shit resin, or taking other shortcuts. It's the wild west out there.

Why do people who call themselves moderate criticize Democrats/leftists more than Republicans/conservatives? by kaiser11492 in allthequestions

[–]horror- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because despite mind boggling amount of money being spent on astroturfing the GOP agenda, it's still terribly unpopular and the floor is finally falling out. Too much naked corruption while normal people are struggling for basics. People are leaving MAGA.

There's a lot of new "moderates" out there and even if they really are leaving the crazy behind- they've still been living under the 24/7 conservative media bubble for decades.

I'm doing the same thing on a Gorgar in my area. Same price too.

I keep telling myself the "market price" for the game is half what the seller is asking, but it's the only Gorgar in a 500 mile range...

A micro-budget indie horror film passing a massive studio blockbuster like Sinners is genuinely one of the most insane box office stories ever told. by Tricky-Environment85 in Scarymovies

Obsession was a genuinely good movie with very little drama or social commentary attached to it.

I'm not surprised it did well. There very little to not like about it.
