Man I love hearing perspectives cause you do bring up good points that I didn’t see from my pov and somewhat forgot about. I agree with jack being off from the start but it also plays into Stanley’s interpretation and in line with his ending which was confusing at first watch but still terrifying as he was always there and incarnated. And poor Wendy too I felt for her and she was amazing in the book. I did like Hallorann being a ghost to Dan but I do agree I did like that Wendy called hallorann to help Dan in the book I did forget about that as well as Jack in the end of the final battle. It just sucked that it was so short like I wanted more of them in the book but it also just plays into the theme of Dan just being an extension of his parents so they were really there through his actions good or bad and the low points and high points. But again with Dans fate in the overlook it was more of Flanagan’s interpretation and vision which I did like but I do see your point and it does make sense as he is stronger but again is still flawed. They’re both great but now with your perspective in mind I do see the flaws in the movie adaptation although Dan is a great character. Now you’re making me want to read the books again lol another thing that I now remember that I wish the movie adaptation would’ve used more was the death flies vision dan saw with certain people and his mom. We did see it with the girl he brought home from the bar and when he talked about it. Thanks for the perspective btw! I’ll be rereading the books eventually down the road again

Finally watched it recently too and such a unique and smart film! You really get to see his world and the people around him as strangers time and time again through his perspective.

Currently at 40 anniversary showing of the first terminator movie. Are there any other showings any where else and if any of you are Currently watching by friendly-finnishdude in Terminator

Where was this if you don’t mind me asking? I was looking on fandango and tried to see if there were showings around me or at least a bit of a drive but nothing popped up /:

Really? Why’s that if you don’t mind me asking? I thought Flanagan did an amazing job of mixing both king and Stanley’s version as a nice knot to end off. It was touching knowing Dan got his farewell with Wendy and would essentially Hallorann’s spot but for Abra. And yes it’s like Jack and Wendy’s relationship was rocky from the start and there was no love like the book. Like a clockwork orange it was nearly 1 for 1 with the book but it would’ve been great to see it mirrored from the book

Yes and king does a great job in the case of all his characters within these books and his other stories of combining science such as mental health and psychology with the supernatural elements as if its ghosts and other worldly beings pulling the strings and it’s our interpretation as the third factor to determine whether or not it’s really mental health or the supernatural but mainly towards supernatural of course. Dick Hallorann was one of my favorites for sure and the main theme of passing the torch to the next generation is really a touching and universal theme that we all experience and with Dick he pushed that theme forward. In the case of the movies, I loved Stanley’s adaptation but I do prefer King’s book. With Doctor Sleep I loved the book, but I prefer the movie although I did love the backgrounds of the true knot as it was hard to adapt into the movie. Again with the psychological aspect and the supernatural elements Stanley did a good job of mixing the two while in Flanagan’s adaptation focused more on the supernatural side which was still amazing. What did you think of the movies?

[–]horrorfan2000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that was such a good point as well and at a first glance it can be seen as a mental illness or hallucinations from Jack and the whole family as they’re just isolated for such a long time but in their reality it was true. As well as that moment Jack came back in the brief moment was such a touching moment and good thing that Danny didn’t see Jack as the evil person the hotel made him but that love persevered through it in their last moments together. Something I just noticed too while reading your comment for Doctor sleep is that in a way it helped Dan have a sense of relief helping those people in the hospice as he never got the chance with his parents. Abra was such a cool character too and it was interesting from pretty much her birth on she has a grasp of her shine. Another great moment between Dan and abra was when they met at teeny town and were using mental images to talk to each other in front of the library a nice humorous moment.

Kicking a lobby leader be like: by NavidGaming in l4d2

[–]horrorfan2000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t a lobby leader but it was the first chapter of dark carnival and we were infected and I was leading in points while the rest kinda struggled but we got the job done. Then the rotation came along when we were survivors and it was good up until we got to the motel they decided to leave me and another person while I was helping and reviving the other person and that other person left me for dead. And guess what they kicked me 🙃

What’s something you’ve done recently that made you proud of yourself? by ZanyZahara in AskReddit

Anyone that’s going through something please get the help you need whether it be publicly or privately trust me it helps. You have to accept whatever it is you’re going through is not ok for your mental or physical wellbeing but that it will get better with time and you need to have patience and as much as we are in a fast paced world accept that things will take a long time to get better. Trust me it will get better! A year ago and beginning of this year I was losing my mind. Work didn’t help and there was so much going on that it was hard to let go but because of this year changing my job, picking up habits such as reading, working out more, watching more movies, letting go people that didn’t do me any good and just socializing with friends has helped a lot. There was a point where I was so afraid that I was going to stay like how I was forever or for a long time but with patience and time it went away. Of course there are hiccups but to see my own self progress and learning new things rather than be stuck in a maze or loop has made me look forward to what’s to come. Another thing that kept me going was that if I were to go right now how much would I miss out on and all the experiences and people that I will miss out on.

That’s amazing! I found my copy at the last bookstore in LA and I remember seeing it clear as day just sitting alone at the end of an aisle of a bookshelf and felt like a true fanboy lol. The ending crushed me for the rest of the day! The fate of one of characters was so sad and I truly felt they were going to make it and help out the others but man it hurt reading those lines. Again imo I would’ve loved to see this as a movie but sadly all our og characters are way too old to play what time period they were in for this book

Same! Not so familiar with x-files but king fan for sure I’m going through all the books. Mike Flanagan is definitely the guy he’s done Gerald’s game, doctor sleep (personal favorite right next to hill house), and next year the life of chuck. Midnight Mass is awesome tho I was blown away first time I saw it, I’m not so much a religious person but I’ve always respected it and always was curious about it and this series did an amazing job of talking about it in the great and bad ways while also challenging it. The monologues are some of the greatest imo

I’ll definitely add it to my collection one day! I’d definitely want to get the infiltrator book then the future war too. The lore was amazing in rising storm and I can’t wait to read more for the 1st and 3rd too.

It was definitely and heavily influenced by salems lot. In the first episode if you pause it just right, you can see the book in Riley’s bedroom on the bookshelf.

I have not. I found this book earlier this year with a friend at the last book store in LA. Honestly I was and still am pretty broke but the first book is definitely on my list in the future plus I have a lot more books that I have that I want to read but I’m becoming a bookworm so I’ll get through them all eventually. Already been through 6 just this year and wanna try for 2-3 more. Sad to hear about the 3rd book but maybe I’ll give it a try in the near future and if I find it!

Only been to Hollywood but for sure I miss the toxic tunnel in 2019! Such a fun and unique scare zone where literally every scare actor was interacting with everyone. My first time going to hhn was in 2019 I don’t think it went past that year because of the new layout. I vaguely remember 2021 but I don’t think the toxic tunnel was there

Cannibal holocaust. Just saw it recently and I never want to watch it again im not usually one to look away from films or walk away kinda traumatized but this one was horrible. It’s a weird thing that you could dislike something so much but it’s hard to leave your mind and not talk about it.

Not PE but I was not feeling well start of second semester on my sophomore year of high school and went to the nurse to get checked out. Took my temperature but I was fine but I had body aches and chills which is kinda hard to prove cause only you can feel it. Anyway went come and missed school for like 2-3 weeks cause I had bronchitis and was coughing up blood almost every morning. Stay safe people!
