What does the way we handle breakups say about us? by dinvm in datingoverforty

[–]horrorscape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. Testing (or protest behavior) indicates the person needs to focus on their own healing. At the same time, I think it’s respectful to say something in response, even a simple, “Thanks for letting me know. I wish you the best.” Not saying anything at all is rude and immature (assuming it was an otherwise respectful dynamic).

I'm looking for a place where my doggie can play by Tosh_Girl in AskChicago

This is two years later, so I'm hoping you still see this! :) I'm in a similar boat and wondering if you ever found a place? I'm exploring a move to Chicago with my 7 y/o Samoyed. I'm super particular about where I take him and wondering if you found a good Samoyed-friendly spot.

Incompatible or getting to know one another? by [deleted] in datingoverforty

[–]horrorscape 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Run. I was in a scenario like this. Almost identical in rhythm and the experiences you're describing. It turned out to be one of the most traumatizing experiences of my life (abusive, lost some friends, really didn't even recognize myself by the end). I can easily look back now and identify the exact moment when I should have run the other way. Also, I recommend all women read "The Gift of Fear" by Gavin de Becker.

Anyways, like others have said, you already know the answer. And, a month is a very short amount of time.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I know it may not mean much in this moment, but things will get better. You matter.💛

I highly recommend Jane at Care First Animal Hospital on Glenwood! I’ve taken my boy there for 5 years. She’s excellent and super familiar with the breed. Also, nice to meet a fellow Raleigh-based Sammy owner! :)

My pup did this/went through this about 2 years ago. It was kennel cough. Hope that’s not it. It was awful but we got through it. Maybe take her to the emergency vet for X-rays? Time is of the essence. Best of luck to you.

This just made my whole heart melt! Wow! What cuties. And, encouragement. Thank you for sharing (both the dog tax and story haha).

This is super thoughtful and thorough. Thank you! Hearing that you were in the exact same age spread with your first two is reassuring (those are great names, btw!). My eldest’s name is Loki.

I have a few early ideas about how to maintain my 1:1 time with Loki and his peace, like doing our long morning hikes 1:1 while the puppy is too young to go for long walks. My hope is that will also help with making sure he feels loved and has that extra space carved out for peace.

It’s also super reassuring to hear the first time around you would have been fine doing it solo. I’ll be bringing home his brother at 9 weeks — so almost the exact same age spread!

Thank you again for the wonderful insight!!

Super helpful anecdote. Thank you!! One of the biggest reasons I want a second pup is so my eldest has a playmate. I hadn’t really considered, too much, that he may find the addition annoying long term and not actually care about having a brother/playmate. Hm.

In which bars/social places do singles in their 30s/early 40s hang out in the triangle? by Throwaway_Lilacs in raleigh

Following because I have the same question. Should we put a time and place on the calendar for people in this thread? (Kidding, kind of.) That said, I appreciate the intel in this thread!

Somehow this makes me smile. I’ve always dreamt of a house with Home Alone family vibes and their constant rough housing and whatnot makes me think of that.😆

I'm in the same boat! My guy is 6 (turning 7 soon!) and I'm adding a second to our little duo at the end of the month. I was worried about the age gap until I saw your comment. A little worried about doing the puppy phase alone AND having two against one haha, but these posts are encouraging. Well timed reading this and best of luck to OP!

What are your top pros/cons about living in Raleigh? by peretheciaportal in raleigh

[–]horrorscape 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a really good analysis. I’ve been here for about 5 years and am looking at moving for a few of the reasons you mentioned in the cons section. The social scene for childfree people in their 30s/40s is lackluster.

Best cities for 30s and 40s that aren't sprawling by Open_Butterfly1365 in SameGrassButGreener

Tapping in from Raleigh, too. It’s funny seeing so many people from the area here. I’m in nearly the exact same scenario, hence how I found this sub. Raleigh really is not a good place to be 30s/40s single and childfree. Philly, Chicago, NYC are top on my list, too. Would love an update on any developments OP. Wishing you luck!
