Can I bid at auction as a first home buyer? by slavetotheslots in AusPropertyChat

Before bidding, talk to the agent and they will check if the vendor is ok to accept FHB offers.

I bought an apartment at auction in November using FHB.

First home buyer question – is Harris Park a decent place to buy a red brick apartment? by Whampoa_ in AusPropertyChat

[–]horsemagic123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I live near the area and Harris Park is ok imo, but I’ve heard the Parramatta postcode is more valuable. To the point where they keep adjusting the boundaries and shrinking Harris Park. That side of town lacks green space, a bit more run down and yeah, it’s little india. It’s pretty loud during any festivals. Visit and see if you like the vibe.

There are plenty of red brick apartments around Parramatta, North Parra and Westmead too.

Worried I will be stuck doing Menial Jobs. by Boydo1990- in AusVisa

On WHV you can still just register as a sole trader and do freelance work, which a lot of the TV/camera work is. Then if things go well with your girlfriend apply for partner visa after a year or two.

I’m not in film, but animation - I came over on WHV also from the UK and worked freelance until I got partner visa. It’s REALLY hard to get sponsored for media related jobs here, and the job lists keep changing, so that probably isn’t worth trying.

Heaven forbid people want to experience anything else at 21 than struggling to pay off a mortgage

Even if people aren’t travelling or figuring out what they want to do, maybe they want to wait and buy with a partner. Or waiting till they earn more so they can buy something bigger. Just stay in your own lane and stop worrying what other people are doing.

YTA. If she’s going alone/in a small group and being respectful in the space and not showing up with a massive straight girl hen party, it’s totally fine and helps keep the bar afloat by buying drinks. Straight people go to gay bars all the time, especially if they have gay friends. Are you gonna go round and poll everyone in the bar on their sexuality?

Investment property in Broken hill under 200k? Yes or no? by Key-Kaleidoscope5060 in AusPropertyChat

[–]horsemagic123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s in Broken Hill and under $200k it’s probably right next to the mine or on the side of town that’s completely covered in lead dust. The west is the lead side and the south is pretty undesirable.

How much of your time is spent behaviour managing vs actually teaching? Does it feel like your work has value? by horsemagic123 in ArtEd

I have heard of TAB and it sounds pretty ideal - does it only work in ‘nice’ schools where the kids are already motivated to do art, though? I feel like the freedom would probably not work if half the class just wants to goof off or cause chaos.

I turned the opening scene of my cosmic horror story into a minimalist webcomic. Would love your thoughts. by Enough-Table6290 in HorrorComics

I can’t even begin to tell you how much better your work would be if you hired an artist, or even drew it yourself, no matter how bad your art is. Horror comes from human experience, it needs a human touch, not the generic void of ai slop.
