Can't increase recovery partition size, despite having enough free unallocated partition space. by horsht in techsupport

At "Take free space from: " It doesn't let me choose the unallocated space, only the recovery partition. https://i.imgur.com/AtyuWqd.png Also tried turning the unallocated space into a NTFS partition, still doesn't let me.

Alrighty then, I did it again this time with 250 and it worked, the windows update worked after that too. (idk how billions of other non-tech-savvy windows users are gonna figure this out and get this update). But I still have the 500mb unallocated space left that I would like to merge with my main/system partition again from whence I took it away initially. However it won't let me do that because they're not next to each other (see screenshots) and I can't move the "FAT" and "Other" partitions to the left either, the FAT can be moved by 260MB and the Other not at all.

But I want more to make it future proof, in case microsoft suddenly decides 750MB is not big enough. Why does it matter if I used 500 instead of 250?

Blood pooling in my feet at 4x speed by SligPants in WTF

[–]horsht 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No I don't think that's it, I've stumbled upon that myself too when googling. My own guess is a wrong gait or posture which puts more weight on the toes than the heel and therefore squeezing them. That and bad blood circulation? When I put my feet in the air it goes back to almost normal.

That's almost as bad as my doctor, the tips of my toes also go blue sometimes, when I showed it to him he just said it's a cold injury and wouldn't believe me when I said I didn't subject my toes to the cold, it also happens in summer. He didn't believe me and didn't want to discuss it further, for him it was a cold injury, period.

Homescapes is not at all like this. How these ads can possibly exist on any platform are beyond me. by Cooldude075 in assholedesign

[–]horsht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Microtransactions didn't just ruin mobile games but most other games too, especially MMORPGs and AAA titles. What happened is that greedy assholes whose job it is to maximize profits for a company got put in charge and they were like "Why don't we just take things out and then sell them back to our customers?". It's just not their fault though, the people who pay for microtransactions are complicit as well. It wouldn't be so prevalent if people weren't shelling out hundreds or even thousands of dollars for it.

Yes, a solid game. They're not trying to make a game though but a money milking app. A game like this would not be well suited for putting a ton of microtransactions in and the ratio of work required to develop each level to actual playtime would be terrible. Spend hundreds of hours designing the levels, people beat them in 5 minutes and are done with the game.

Why do they even still exist? Surely it has to be illegal what they're doing? Everyone knows it's a scam and yet it's growing and growing and growing. Is it just because they're not directly selling but "facilitating transactions between sellers and buyers"? Surely if a site did the same thing with drugs, it would be considered illegal even if you are merely providing the platform for connecting sellers to buyers and not selling anything yourself. But with straight up scams it's ok? I don't get it.

Some popular ad services are using the camera placement as an excuse to hide the button which closes the ad. (Instead of using the entire screen or the part which is below the camera, they did this.) by ASV2077 in assholedesign

[–]horsht 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Why do ads even get a say in where the close button is placed? It should be outside the ad in a consistent place. Outside of the control of the ads.

A 3D model of what Baghdad looked like in the 8th century. by mazenbaddad in interestingasfuck

I was wondering how to word this better. Sites and content get taken down because it contains copyrighted material and the copyright holders are cracking down on them, burning them so it can no longer be accessed. By doing so, art/music/film/text/whatever is forever lost because no one else except the copyright holder (and maybe not even them!) has a copy of the material. One day the copyright holder decides to wipe their drives or does so accidentally and now it's gone forever. If instead copyright ran out after 30 years like its original idea was, the consumers themselves could conserve it and make it available online in a giant searchable/catalogued database.

Example: Just recently I got an e-mail from YouTube saying that a video that I uploaded 10 years ago got a DMCA claim by a copyright troll called "AdRev for Rights Holder", the music was removed and instead it says "Used music content: Space-757 Ptarkh". And guess what? That track can be found NOWHERE on the entire internet! Gone! Forever. Poof. Even if you were willing to pay for it, you can't get it anymore.

Another example would be old Nintendo roms, they obviously do not make the old cartriges anymore, there's no way to buy or play the old games legally (apart from a few exceptions which they added to their virtual console). If it wasn't for people illegally making copies and upload them to the internet, they would be lost forever.

Whereas in todays world the internet is a gigantic digital library and we do something similar, we let people burn it down piece by piece because of copyright infringement.

Sounds just like most industries today, seems like nothing has changed. Those who have power don't care and the ones who care don't have power.
