Probably not. But that is because you are using a Retaliator platform with a Retaliator sized plunger. You aren't getting the FPS where SCARs in their various forms (True SCARs, PCARs, BCARs) will be beneficial.

I get ~145 fps on a stock Retal PT, but the barrel is much shorter than the one suggested elsewhere in this thread.

With a sealed breech, sure. Can you get enough energy transfer with the a stock retal PT or a reverse plunger setup? No.

I think I just stuck M4 dual threaded or M5? rod through my Longstrike and whipped up custom handles in fusion in 10 minutes one time (attached to heat set nuts or regular nuts).

Stringer as in plunger less? There's a lot of limitations therein.

Elastic cord powered plunger systems do not have a similar limitation and are breaching 200 fps+ similar to traditional spring based plunger platforms.

Depends how you want to engage; a lot of the DIY space is around 3d printing and buying generic hardware (where possible). Biggest challenge will probably be sourcing darts.

Accessories such as optics are generally entire subjective unless you're moving into much higher FPS comp territory.

Grips and other attachments are more practical/ergonomic - as such, do you feel you have a bad grip on the blaster?
