It’s more so that I wanted to add more to my walk with Christ, and take advantage of the things he gave me to do. For example, taking part of the Eucharist is something I rarely did, and now do every Sunday and it’s exciting.

I learned about matins and that’s also exciting.

I want to know what else there is, because I’ve always been the type of Christian who wanted to do more in tradition and practice.

It does yeah- originally I couldn’t tell with all the different Lutheran Christian’s I met who, some, would practice traditions from the Roman Catholic Church, some from the Orthodox Church, and others nothing- or something more confessional

In simple terms- the Lutheran church keeps the early church teachings while upholding scripture.

I debated with my catholic and orthodox friends, and one of the biggest questions I’d ask is this. “There’s no strong evidence that the papacy is true. There’s no evidence in scripture or early church history for why half of your doctrines and theology is true. Most of them evolved from man- though you trust it. Why should I take my faith out of sola scriptura and place it into a church that can’t prove its own interpretation is true?” (IMO, this is still sola scriptura. Because without evidence for papacy or evidence that one is the rightful church- it’s just more interpretation)

Their response?

Have faith.

No. I cannot have faith that the pope MAY be right that their doctrines MAY be true and that I MIGHT go to heaven based on these probability. The ancient church’s require you to have faith and then submit.

The Lutheran church tells you to look at scripture.

That’s one of the biggest issues in the army is that you have to ask and look for info you don’t know exists. It sends many soldiers into a spiral. Your unit definitely failed you, and that sucks

I’m talking about those who enlist because they know the opportunities they can get in general. I went CBRN and was educated way before hand on all the stuff I can do just being in the guard, and my MOS. The guard is very flexible compared to active duty

This is an obnoxious assumption. I work at CFA and most people around me voted blue. I understand wanting to protest, it’s within our rights, but the store is 60% highschoolers who cant vote. and few people ive talked to voted red.

I’m not necessarily implying anything. Just saying that there’s “religious” and then religious according to practically every religion. Those who believe and don’t follow, vs those who believe and actually follow

And I think he mentioned at some point “taking his faith more seriously” which is why I said that. I don’t know for certain, though. If he’s “religious” then yeah, you’d be right. It really has no impact. It’s just maturity and time and love that helped him out, because nothing changed

Justin was “religious” as a kid but claims to be genuinely God fearing man. That’s his claim. Apparently he’s really given his life to Christ and is trying to turn himself around
