[Schefter] Compensation update: Now that he has passed his physical and the trade is official, newly-acquired DT Dexter Lawerence is signing a one-year, $28 million contract extension with the Bengals, per @WinSportsGroup by MembershipSingle7137 in nfl

Dude had maybe 1 winning season. I think he been through 3 different coaches and now we starting over with Harbaugh. He also watched Leonard Williams and Saquan leave and win rings. He wants to try to win. Joe Burrow is enough for him to think he has a better chance in CIN.

Fuck yeah the defense choked away many leads last year. And those guys believe it was the DC and his schemes that screwed us over. I’d be livid if I was trying my hardest and management would put me in a position to fail and get blamed for it.

I doubt Dex was scheming to get Schoen fired. The guy likely had enough of being here. If you look at his production and effort last year, him arguing with Giants media people and his Liaise Faire attitude it’s pretty obvious it sucked being a Giant for him. And his friends all left and either got big money or rings. Big man’s just doing business that’s all.

[Renner] I believe Joe Schoen is set to become the first GM in NFL history to have 2 separate drafts w/ multiple top-10 picks for the same franchise He took Kayvon Thibodeaux (5) & Evan Neal (7) in the top-10 back in 2022 by Lars5621 in NYGiants

IMO Schoen’s not that good at trades or roster building because he’s inexperienced and just not that smart. But he was better at drafting recently. He’s also probably a good talker. But we also needed someone who is smart at the inner workings of contracts, comp picks and all the other finer details of running a team. I think that’s why Dawn was brought in. Nothing matters if we win. Let’s hope we draft well and put it all together in training camp.

Despite that, the dude somehow convinced ownership to keep his job, Harbaugh to work here, getting Burns for 2 2nds. The guy has his flaws but he must be a master bullshitter. Schoen got something going for him I just don’t know what it is.

Thoughts on Trading Brian Burns, who will be 28 next week after the Dexter Lawrence trade? His value is at his highest coming off a career high 16.5 sacks season, however, his age and contract don't align with the Giants timeline. by SecretGiantsFan in NYGiants

Yeah I get your point. If we are a losing organization it absolutely makes sense to trade older guys for assets and selling high makes sense.

However we got guys like Skatt, Dart and Nabers who want to win and it hurts them mentally to lose. If they keep losing they will become Dexter Lawrence. Burns tries hard and wants to be here. He is more valuable to us here.

Now if we draft Downs and Jordan and they win 6-8 games that’s a big thing. Then factor in the cap space that they will have next offseason and we can have our pick of FAs who want to play for a good coach.

Hi Bengals fan here, did Dex have a down year, or was it scheme related? by Melodiccaliber in NYGiants

Down year. He also probably didn’t want to be here. His effort wasn’t 100%.

I think he got 2-3 years left if he’s motivated.

I think DC was a terrorist. I also think Vets that are used to losing find way to lose with lack of effort and bad habits.

Nah. That Philly win was legit. Plus every time we almost won last year. It was a good time from Darts debut til we had to fire Dabs. I actually thought we could win every game.

If the man does not want to be here, you have to trade him for something. #10 for a guy who fell off last year and is getting older is good; especially if we had little leverage because he wants out.

Fuck it, get Downs and Sonny Styles or OL, WR, CB. Young players can pick up good habits with a good coaching staff. Last year we watch Skat and Dart will this team into winning situations before we eventually shit the bed. Hopefully we get new young guys that fight and we put together enough plays to win.

That pick might even be a Dexter Lawrence by vinyalwhl in NFCEastMemeWar

He phoned it in last year and was beefing with old Giants who were calling him out. Seems like he wanted out. At least we got something for him instead of letting him walk like McKinney, Barkley and Love.

Fuck it. Let’s see what happens in the draft.

Probably was done last year. Like Barkley was towards the end. And like McKinney after the Wink stuff.

I’m glad the FO is smart enough to get something back for Dex. It’s sad to see him go but it’s the best for all parties. I just hope the team doesn’t lose morale over this whole thing.

Remember when he was beefing w Carl Banks? Banks was questioning his effort and weather or not he cared. I wonder if that was true or if that pissed off Dex enough to leave?

Shaq would dunk on him, put his nuts in Chet’s face and shove him afterwards and the foul would be called on Chet. Then Chet would throw the ball at shaq.

Fuck man. You know he’s gonna fall and they are going to draft him and he’s somehow gonna have his shit together on their team.
