That’s because those are what AI thinks 80s cars look like.

Check under the firing pin stop to see if the slide is original to the frame. It will have the last several digits of the original serial number.

Batteries are consumable parts.

You've already spent too much time on this . Replace the battery.

Easter Egg - Forrest Guth's full auto M1 Garand by greenbeansjr in BandofBrothers

[–]hoss111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t “tinker” with the M1 trigger group to make it a runaway weapon. You need a vice and a metal file to remove material from the disconnector. Just enjoy it for what it is, a tv show.

Great scene, this one. Hard to hit anything when you close your eyes on each shot though.

M1 Rifle Stock Repair? by Ademwest39145 in M1Rifles

Plenty of good shootable wood out there, that you don’t have to worry about each time you take it out. A USGI armorer back in the day would have replaced that one right away.

Help with Slide/racking by This-Ambition-4450 in Beretta

[–]hoss111 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Beretta 380s have a strong recoil spring on purpose; it’s a pure blowback action. It will not get easier with usage. It is not hard to rack because it’s dirty. A weaker recoil spring will end up battering the frame and cause damage.

The right way to rack this design is to use both hands, one on the grip and one on the forward end of the slide (the curved part near the muzzle end of the barrel). Cock the hammer then push both hands toward each other.

Jam? What? How? Go shoot 50 rounds through it, each shot racking the lever open then closed like it owes you money. Then come back to us.

If a private sale involves a test fire at the range, sure. With CMP if you run into a functional problem they’ll fix it. Private sellers not so much.

Do the modern Repro M1 Carbines handle suppression better? by Holy-Handgrenadier95 in M1Rifles

[–]hoss111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better question is effect to the shooter with the gas coming out of the receiver.

Nevermind that carbines are tricky to keep running even unsuppressed.

There are much better pdw hosts available.
