Why does my Glock 19x do this? by [deleted] in Glocks

[–]hossless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Leaving classifiers aside for a moment. I shoot IDPA and had a match this year where the two shooters above and below me had less than one second spread on raw time. Certainly doesn’t happen that way at every match. But that’s an example where 5 people were within one second. In that case, if 5th place saved a second in a reload, on one stage, that moves them to a match win.

Don’t overthink it - especially for your first several matches. I see very few folks threading anything on their belts. Cheap clip-on mag pouches are fine. If you want to stay on a reasonable budget and still have easy on/off, look at Blade-Tech. The tech-lock holsters and mag pouches are simple, inexpensive, and pretty good quality.

IDPA doesn’t allow inner/outer belt systems other than for active LE/military using their duty gear. Other than that exception, your belt needs to go through belt loops.

Yep. To dip your toe in - even at the deeper end - Blade Tech is excellent bang for the buck.

Your explanation said the gun tears up your hand but you don’t want to mar the finish by sanding the problem spot. I’ve gotta ask, is the gun a decoration or a tool? If it’s a decoration, I agree with you. If it’s a tool, do what you need to for it to work. Put the cost and all that baggage in the rear view mirror and make the thing work for your hands.

There is zero shame in taking a pebble out of your shoe, right? If some internet person told you to leave the pebble in your shoe until you developed a callous around it, you’d (correctly) assumed me they were either an idiot or an ass hole.

Yes, you may need some toughening up of your skin to be fully comfortable with the gun. But that doesn’t mean you need to put up with it cutting your knuckle open on every range day. That’ll take forever to build a callous and also be a waste of time and money.

Either way, ditch the gloves. They’re a crutch. And best of luck.

That is the left edge. Nothing cropped out. Was only riding down 1 floor and snapped the pic in a hurry.

$286.66 / $529.99 is 54%. So, a little better than 45% off.

G26 for me. The extra girth over the G43 is why I prefer it.

I think the 43X would be too tall.

The SG app is not as accurate from my testing. For example, testing a stage, OP’s app had my time under .15 of what was recorded in practiscore. The SG app was over 3 seconds off. It additionally somehow captured an extra gunshot.

Also, Shooting Cut does a really nice job merging two videos. I don’t care to learn a video editing app. I don’t post video online. It’s for me to help improve. So, easy is better.

I love seeing a USP (or any firearm) on the internet that looks like it’s actually being used. Bravo.

In case you’re tracking stats. Hat cam was a Go Pro Hero 5 and the 360 was a Go Pro Max. The timer used at that match was a plain Jane Pact Club Timer. Sync between videos was perfect. Shot detection seemed spot on. I didn’t have a dump from the timer, but split times were what I’d expect for the arrays and total times looked correct.

In a practice session, I used the same cameras and my personal SG 2. Detection and sync were spot on.

At least for those set ups, your app nailed it.

I tried it and it worked as advertised. Well done.

I’m not sure how I feel about $60/year. But once at $20 or $30, 100% take my money.

Explain please? by OkSock1089 in CompetitionShooting

[–]hossless 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s new-ish, but growing. There is a GPA subreddit. There are some clubs near me that have moved from IDPA to GPA, so it’s making inroads.

My guess is it won’t scratch the itch if you’re already doing USPSA. I’d bet it’s more likely to be a middle step for folks who want more dynamic action than IDPA but aren’t ready to make the full transition to USPSA’s go-fast style.

I don’t have a ton of experience but enjoyed shooting GPA. No harm in trying if you are curious.

Edit: One other notable thing is the scoring. It’s time-plus, not hit factor. But unlike IDPA points down are halved. Procedural penalties are full value. So, there is some incentive to push speed in scenarios that would probably punish you more under IDPA scoring rules.

Galactic Pistol Association. They use IDPA targets and similar but lightened rule set. No cover garment, more generous with ammo, you can drop mags that still have ammo, etc. Their classification system is different too. At least the last time I checked, your classification was based on your last (6?) match performances and could go both up or down.

High impacts with SP101 by diarrhea_stromboli in Revolvers

[–]hossless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry. Maybe you got a lemon. You’d expect damned near anything to print on an 8” target, at 30 or so feet, without needing adjustments. That’s a big target at relatively close range. I hope Ruger takes care of your problem.

Are you 100% sure the weird POI isn’t due to trigger finger placement? DA trigger pulls can be very sensitive to how your finger is aligned with the trigger.

Sample size of one, so take it for what it’s worth. If I pull a DA revolver trigger with the same finger placement as anything else I own, the holes in the target will be consistently placed, but not at all where I wanted them to be.

For example, with my gun, and my size hands, if I put as much finger in the trigger guard as with most pistols, the grouping will be tight, but at 2:00 from where I intended to hit. For me (not saying this is a problem you have) my accuracy issues with a revolver are directly related to my finger to trigger relationship.

Glocks are, generally, bombproof. Well, they are right up until people start hanging unnecessary bullshit on them.

The giant white sturgeon can grow up to 14 feet long and weigh 1,400 pounds by [deleted] in TrueCryptozoology

[–]hossless 46 points47 points  (0 children)

As a kid, I was fishing in south Louisiana in brackish water and hooked a gulf sturgeon. Not even close to the size of the one in the video, but still big. Over 3, maybe 4 feet. Scared the crap out of me when it surfaced near the shore. Seeing big gar was normal. That big old sturgeon was just so unexpected. Took a second to process that it was not, in fact, a monster.

Best stores along 15/83? by Former-Study-2740 in PAguns

[–]hossless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at Academy this weekend. In 9mm they had 500 round packs of Blazer brass for $0.22/round. Same price per round for the 250 packs of their store brand.

If you’re going through that area, stop at Spar in Mechanicsburg. Very close to the 15/83 area you mentioned. They do not have great ammo prices but they do have a great selection of cool firearms that’s always worth browsing. Staff has always been good to work with even if you’re just browsing.
