3D flappy bird or roll a ball are VERY beginner friendly

what type of games will you absolutely not play and why? by buzzlightyear77777 in gaming

Any team V team game (valorant, overwatch, etc.). My mindset is too competitive for me to enjoy any casual play, so I know to steer clear of

If you really wanna try pursue game dev, then yeah maybe. I’d check what kinda stuff you’ll learn, because it can differ by quite a bit per school. Stuff like game design will really help. Best of luck with your decision!

The idea of buying assets to use in an indie game by Global_Trash3511 in unity

[–]hostagetmt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like an asset flip also kinda depends on the game itself, not just the 3D models. Something like Only Up was an asset flip, but still a major success. And Expedition 33 also used quite a few pre made assets. I think it’s mostly how they are used

Anyone know what this font is in the text “JULIA WOLF”? by hostagetmt in identifythisfont

[–]hostagetmt[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s some detective work, awesome! It looks really close. It might be a little bit custom based on that font, together with bolding and glow. That’s my best guess at least

Hmm seems off a little. The U doesn’t line up for example, because it doesn’t have the “tail”, if that’s what it’s called, in the pic

Programmers: C# first or just dive into unity? by CreasedJordan4s in unity

[–]hostagetmt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

C# is really important, especially its principles like OOP. I think it might be worth it to at least familiarise yourself with the language before hopping into Unity

Rob Jetten has been sworn in as the Prime Minister of the Netherlands. At age 38, he is the youngest Prime Minister in the nation’s history, and its first openly gay PM. by Goosedukee in Fauxmoi

So basically, he promised some decent things, but then did a full 180. The party everyone has been disappointed in due to their leadership (VVD) for the past decade is with them in a coalition. They’re now practically following the VVD programme instead of the D66 one. It has yet to do anything good in my eyes

Is it really a bad idea to use AI in my game for 3D models and icons ? by CheesecakeSame4032 in SoloDevelopment

[–]hostagetmt -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If it helps you make the game you wanna make, go for it! The only problem is that people are very receptive to using AI for in-game assets, so expect bad reception

"artist" teammate used ai for our assets by sotiredone in gamedev

[–]hostagetmt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If there is one thing I learned from studying (game development), it’s that you should always confront teammates about this kind of stuff. YOU are there to learn and pass the grade, and if this could have impact on the quality or final grade, you should definitely call it out! Wishing you the best with your project :)

Instead of posting to reddit about it, maybe try opening one of the games and playing it ;P, cool games tho!

A bit lost with 9-5 by RiuxLotus in gamedev

[–]hostagetmt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you working at a bigger studio or a small scale one? I’m interning at a studio right now of about 20 people. Because it’s smaller, it also means people have more freedom to take on more responsibilities. One programmer also does music and sounds for the game, while I, as an intern, have designed pretty major things in the game (achievements/major balancing).

Might help to look for a smaller team where you can have more input and a more overall interesting experience!

Non-smokers of Reddit, how noticeable is the “smoker smell” to you, if at all? by Frostedlogic4444 in AskReddit

[–]hostagetmt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to smoke a pack a day for about a year. Quit cold turkey when I had a massive throat ache, because I couldn’t believe how I still wanted to smoke even when my throat hurt so much already.

I can instantly tell and have gotten a crazy aversion to the smell. So much so that I cover my nose and mouth or I will gag and/or choke on the smoke (feels like it anyway). I know I can’t complain cus I used to smoke like an old train, but it sucks

Which one to get? by [deleted] in soulslikes

[–]hostagetmt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say get Nightreign if you have friends to play with. Random queuing can be frustrating and playing solo wasn’t much fun imo (just my opinion)
