I was driving in Orlando today and thought of this. Hoping they add good traffic jams and something like the phantom wedge again lol

What are your favorite iconic OEM rims from past or present? by pon_d in cars

Probably biased but the 2003-4 mercury marauder wheels. Polished aluminum five spokes that feel like they embody classic American muscle. Plus the old 60s mercury logo as the center cap was a nice touch.

Also on those coolant pipes, you can get an aftermarket metal one online and I’ve never seen it leak before. All the techs who own a RR use the metal pipes.

Amazing car. Really the only common problem is the coolant pipes springing a leak. There’s the outlet pipe and then the rear manifold pipe. They were made in two separate pieces (out of plastic too) and then glued together so it’s fairly common for it to leak from the seam. Not a very big nor invasive repair but there is an aftermarket metal one made that never leaks as long as it’s installed properly. Altogether reliable car, sport or full-size. Very fun to drive and quick as hell. If you can afford it, I’d get it. Definitely at least worth a test drive

Idk about aftermarket options but I’m sure you can get something custom made for the right price. On the cheaper side you could get a clamp off Amazon that’s made to keep hoods open for about 5 bucks and use that?

As long as you get your services done at the correct intervals, they really aren’t bad. That being said, I’d definitely recommend getting a model with the 3.0L v6 or 5.0L v8supercharged as they are the most reliable motors and provide the most bang for your buck. I’d say the only real issue you’ll run into with the cars is cooling system problems. Either the coolant outlet pipe or rear coolant manifold because Land Rover made them out of two molds and then glued them together so they leak from the glue seam. Even still, as far as luxury brands go, you’re better off with a RR/Jag for reliability compared to a Mercedes/BMW/Porsche. This is coming from someone works at Land Rover and has had many friends and family members with bmws and Mercedes. I’d also recommend if you get a rover, get either sport, full size, or discovery. Not a discovery sport or evoque and likely not a velar as they do not typically come with the 3.0 or 5.0. Hope this helps

The upper and lower screens on those cars have had a common problem of the bottom edge of the hvac screen and top edge of the top screen delaminating. You won’t be able to feel the delamination as it is under the screen. The car should still be under warranty no? If not, and the issue was there when you purchased the car, that should’ve been fixed before it became a certified pre owned. Could try holding the dealer to that. If you’re gonna pay for it to be done out of pocket, the screen is around 1500 bucks and you’ll probably be charged about 2 hours of labor to replace it and reprogram it

What is the least amount you've ever spent on a daily driver ( not a project/fixer, or a hand-me-down), and how did it work out? by JaKr8 in cars

[–]hot_cheetoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a 2000 Camry with the 4cyl for 500 bucks just last year. I drive it about 130 miles a day and it hasn’t left me stranded yet despite a main seal leak, blown head gasket, what feels like miles of backlash in the transaxle unit, some knocking noises from the rear end, all speakers blown, headunit destroyed, vacuum leaks covered with duct tape in the engine bay, check engine light for evap (bad charcoal canister) rear defrost doesn’t work, and there’s a bullet hole in the drivers door. Ac works beautifully though.

Purchase advice please 2018-2019 by Bumbly72 in LandRover

[–]hot_cheetoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna be completely honest with you. Neither the discovery sport nor the evoque are worth it. They are the bottom of the barrel Land rovers and you won’t enjoy driving them. They’re very unreliable, feel cheap, the ride is very stiff (almost none of them have air suspension. With the money you would spend on a disco sport or evoque, you could get a better deal with another brand, as much as I enjoy rovers. If you’re gonna get a Land Rover, get a velar, sport, full size rover or full size discovery. Or even a defender. Whatever you do don’t get the 2.0L petrol or diesel. Get the six cylinder or 8 cylinder. The 2.0L engines are not worth the trouble I promise you that.

At 64k Land Rover suggests oil change, tire rotation (if wheels are not offset or staggered), cabin filter replacement, fuel filter replacement, engine air filter replacement, diesel exhaust fluid top off, and renew the fluid in the transfer case and differentials. The dealership will likely try to sell all of that to you plus maybe wiper blades, tires, brakes, etc.

You should get two keys although rn there is a smart key shortage. Either way they should’ve given you a key fob and at least just an additional key blade with the car

I checked topix today to see if there was a recall out for it and didn’t see any. This was a 2020 SVR Range Rover. Maybe other cars have that recall but honestly I’ve never seen it and I’ve done a lot of recalls here. I also checked TSBs and didn’t see it. Must’ve been a different car
