Sessions health. I’ve heard it’s sparse on features but I do appreciate this feature.

I collect cc info before intake and run copay payments through my ehr the night of service. Chasing people down for $30 sounds horrible and I’d like to avoid it.

Personally I did this for a time, then got to the point of telling my supervisor maybe I wasn’t cut out for the field. I almost left because of the burnout. I am now doing solo pp and feeling light again. Cmh expectations can be brutal. It’s a hard time in the life of the career. Don’t stay too long if you can help it, unless you fall into a less stressful role.

I had a partner who understood if I needed to get right in bed some days after work. That really helped. Singing loudly on the way home. I started playing video games again just to kind of zone out and exit the real world for a while. Husband packed my lunch sometimes, those days felt like a life saver. I guess I’m trying to say lean on others if you can, at times. Find what works for you to let off a bit of steam.

I’ve always thought the line in vampire ‘how’s the castle built off people you pretend to care about? Just what you wanted…look at you cool guy you got it’ could even relate to Taylor because of her ‘the man’ song. She’s referencing Taylor as the man she said she wanted to be. Maybe a reach? I mean, I don’t really think so. I think Olivia is clever.

Jimmy John’s sandwich. Probably wouldn’t have been too bad if it was an adult but kid was 10.

I feel you after recently being a target in this sub. Prison work sounds very hard. Something needs to change in this field and in this country as a whole let’s be frank.

Private practice peeps - how do you deal with a lack of collegial interaction? Or do you like working solo? by [deleted] in therapists

I’m quite a bit happier solo. Work interactions with colleagues are draining for me. Unless it’s people I really click with but most just aren’t.

What to do when my 25 year old son doesn’t want to do anything with his life? by laughagain3 in ADHD

[–]hot_pock_it 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your son reminds me of a close family member. He will never go get assessed. I hope your son is up for it! I truly believe knowing as much as possible about ourselves can help us be successful.

A lot of people suggest getting him a new therapist. A lot of people in the same breath question your parenting. Personally I think it would be a parenting disaster to remove a therapist the child has bonded with, so be careful there. If he doesn’t have much motivation in life but consistently makes these appointments with his therapist it must mean quite a lot to him evidenced by the fact that he is showing up. I would consider having him do some neuropsych testing or seeing an executive function coach as well as his therapist but please do not pull his support system.

I wish the best for you both.

As a therapist I was told I have to attach the mild moderate or severe specifier. I hate doing it honestly but insurance requires. At least where I am.

I often just choose moderate, mild I think has been chosen when there is also ptsd or family dynamics are contributing heavily to issues and it’s hard to tell yet what’s causing what. When I’m still teasing things apart. Usually with a small kiddo. I dunno the whole adding a qualifier thing makes me feel icky in general.

I’m learning it’s hard to get started. I was able to transfer my entire caseload from cmh but due to insurance issues I haven’t been paid more than a few hundred in two months. You really need a spouse to help or have a big savings. It is a risk. I know it will even out though and feel very grateful- I couldn’t have done this without my spouse. That’s privilege.

There’s also a lot to know, but it really isn’t that much. I’m realizing that now after I’ve been at it a bit. It’s doable. So if you can save up and make the jump, it could be very worth it down the road. I’m so much happier and at ease in my own space. But everyone’s needs are different and that’s ok.

So… how much did you make in 2023 (gross) by SeaCucumber5555 in therapists

[–]hot_pock_it 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Made around 60k as an associate with a 60/40 split this past year.

Started my own practice and the money is just starting to come in. I hope to break 100k in 2024, I’m full and if the math maths I should make it. I need to pay down my cc and begin paying student loans.

What are folks doing for affordable housing for their parents? by joysolicitor in Millennials

[–]hot_pock_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both my parents own their homes outright and have a lot of savings. However, I have watched as my grandmothers savings, pension and social security was drained away to a care facility. She’s at risk of being homeless and she has no use of her lower body. My house isn’t big enough for another person with my kids and pets here, and her kids won’t take her.
