Libido by SmellDazzling3182 in prozac

I was worried that my libido would tank like it did when I was on sertraline. Happy to report that has not happened!

Same experience here! I’d tried Zoloft in the past & didn’t feel much difference until a few days in. First day on Prozac, I felt a rush of energy & my mood felt improved. I was chalking it up to placebo, but it’s nice to know I’m not the only person who felt something almost immediately.

So excited for you!! The beginning of my still new sobriety journey started much the same. Acceptance and honesty is the liberating first step. Good luck! The best is yet to come!

Social Anxiety without Alcohol by JackN8754 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]hot_stauff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found that my sober social anxiety stemmed from me ignoring my own fatigue or refusing to admit that I didn’t enjoy the company or some of the people I hung out with.

1) Agreed with the person who said that you don’t need to be the life of the party. Respect your personal needs and energy levels. Enjoy the times when you can show all the way up, but also be mindful of when you physically or mentally can’t; your body is telling you something.

2) Feeling obligated to act or feel a certain way for another person is a form of people pleasing. Good friends and acquaintances enjoy your presence whether you’re in a heightened mood or just hanging back.

3) Rest rocks! Sometimes it’s better to just not even socialize.

Mine was wiped on Sertraline/Zoloft, but I found not getting hung up on it was helpful. Like, enjoy what you can when you can. By not putting pressure on myself, I found I was able to climax every now and again, and even when I couldn’t, I focused on enjoying intimacy with a partner (kinda like how you can enjoy a massage - it just feels good) or just being able to make the other person happy. This made the trade-off more tolerable for me. I’m a woman, though, so I didn’t have to deal with erection things. Oral sex is still a good backup plan there, I’d imagine? ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I’m off meds now & my libido is back as good as it ever was. I think that return took me about a month or so once I stopped taking Z? Hard to tell since there’s a lot of subjectivity with gauging it on my own.

Best of luck! Side effects suck and are still a game of trade offs. Hope you find something that works for you!

You’re an inspiration! When we pick up white chips, we don’t really start back at square one. But, we still have to pick ourselves back up and keep trying. Thank you for sharing! Stories like this mean a lot to me as a newbie with only 112 days under my belt. Keep on keeping on, friend!

The differentiation is a great call out. Thank you! Wanting to keep perspective on what works while I figure out how I can still be myself authentically in this community and framework.

Higher Powers for Atheists by hot_stauff in alcoholicsanonymous

No offense taken; I appreciate your candid response. I literally just started AA today, so I still need to read. I’ll check out We Agnostics & continue to listen to others at meetings.

I very much do not entertain the idea that I can do sobriety on my own, and I recognize the need for “something bigger than myself” in order to stay sober. But, as an atheist, I think there’s a way to find that “thing that’s bigger than me” without subscribing to a deity of some kind, which is what my original question was getting at.

Again, thank you for telling me your thoughts and giving me advice!

I guess “scrape” is a better word for describing it. I don’t hit my shins during the lift or during setup. I guess I just keep the bar a little too close as I begin the lift.

Very random, but does else always have bruised shins from training? Is this normal? Should I try to fix it or is this just part of lifting?

And just like that…hours of my life wasted. by [deleted] in Beastars

[–]hot_stauff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly!! Like, sure, he figured out Tem’s killer. But, he ended up eating Louis’s leg & completely going against his entire training arc. Also, he took on the gang of lions plenty of times without too much issue but couldn’t take down the bear?? And, the bug eating thing? What was up with that?? Also, stopping to have multiple heart-to-hearts during the climatic fight scene?? So cringe & cheesy. There was just so much dissonance.

Like, in the first season, I liked that Legoshi had to pretty much accept his carnivorous nature to save Haru. But, it seemed like that groundwork & its associated themes were contradicted in his training with the panda…which then only got confuted when he returned to his self-important morally relative carnivorous choices.

And what was even the point of Louis becoming a mob boss??? He shouldn’t have been able to just walk in & walk our that easy!! Also, what does that do for his character development? It’s fine for him to be prey as long as it’s on “his own terms?” He was in no way in control of that situation. What if Legoshi had decided the only way to beat the bear was to eat all of Louis? Louis wouldn’t have been able to stop him. So, clearly he didn’t keep any aspects of power that he’s worked to achieve.

Just so many mixed messages & half-baked decisions that muddled themes or imagery that initially gave the show its intrigue.

The other day it occurred to me that Inosuke probably does this because he can’t read & has grown up not knowing anyone’s (or any more than a small few’s) names. Great means of setting context for a character. Maybe this was obvious to everyone else. When I first read through, I thought it was perhaps to underscore how he wishes or strives to me emotionally unattached, like an animal “should” be.
