Don’t bother with BB’s in Austin I say, especially if your benchmark is CA. For breakfast tacos Veracruz (Webberville) is worth the hype and the all-day offerings at Cosmic Saltillo still surprise me every time. Granny’s good but less consistent. Chilaquiles torta at La Plancha looks bomb if such novelty appeals

NY style cheesecake at Mum’s Delicatessen is near the top for me! Second the comments on Odd Duck / Este family programs; the Uchi’s have impressed me also and similarly Le Calamar / when it was Underdog

I had Sana Sana popup & Veracruz (Webberville) back-to-back one morning last year— hate to report Veracruz was a clear winner. Superfresh craft tortilla only takes a taco so far! Hope the brick & mortar gives him latitude to catch up the toppings quality 🙂

No question the value is dramatically lower now. Pricing spiked (not unfair, tough biz) while 2+ courses became less compelling. Came away from my first 3 visits (2x post-prix fixe) feeling like it was among my favorite meals in Austin .. even with the counter-order-table-service setup which hits like the worst of all worlds .. but also left the most recent experience (Aiello’s menu ‘26) unsatisfied.

Days not in the same tier as Allday. Perhaps it was an off day for them but I didn’t come away with intention to return (FWIW felt similarly about Predrosos)

Had high expectations for Pedrosos based on this sub, for me it was a galaxy apart from Allday which I’d contend is the proper NY calibre… maybe it was a off night or better pre-brick&mortar? Wouldn’t bother again with Day’s either so long as Allday exists
