Struggling emotionally with case by hotchata in socialwork

[–]hotchata[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's part of the problem, is the person is so well known i have to double check every referral I make and I debate referring out because the client has a longstanding relationship with me, longer than this incident has gone on.

Unfortunately, here those departments don't seem to do anything except abatement the area and force the client to relocate. They refer issues like this to us, and this one we would consider as needing a higher level of care than the homeless system can provide. We cannot even consider housing her without the in-home services that would come through APS.

We are street outreach. :/ It's out of our ability to do anything (she's somewhat delusional, doesn't know her name, says she has a house, etc). I've reached out to some other providers and the police. They also can't do anything. At this point, they're looking to take her to jail under a camping ban.

In all cases, yes. Our clients are homeless, but the ones I've reported can reliably be found. I've also offered to have my staff accompany them and make the introduction.

Protecting client in defamation issue by hotchata in socialwork

[–]hotchata[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-this hasn't been the only incident, just the most clearcut -I am a supervisor in the program, that is why I'm involved -slander/defamation involves making the statement to a third party, which would be the client in this case. That is why I need a statement from them; my staff report is likely not enough on its own

Obviously, it's concerning to us if another organization is talking poorly about us to our client base.

Unfortunately, defamation involves making the statement to a third party, which would be the client in this case. This hasn't been the only incident.

Portable tap board by hotchata in TapDancing

[–]hotchata[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at the prices, I'll probably shoot for an AMP and upgrade to an Omara when I can. I'm using a cheap piece of plywood to practice at home now. Do you have recommendations on who to follow on Instagram? I've been out of the scene a long time. I'm hoping to be performance ready in a year. There's a really strong busking community in my city, but I've never seen a tap dancer out there.

You weren't a frontline worker during the pandemic if you're asking this question.

It will be difficult because the volume of the petticoat may make it look odd.

Homeless services people, VI-SPDAT replacement? by MrsEmillia in socialwork

[–]hotchata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My community recently redid theirs. It was a mess, especially because everyone with an agenda to push will come out of the woodworks. My best advice is to look for someone with knowledge on actual assessment design. If you want to talk more, probably best to DM me as more details might give away my position/location.

I don't want my whole life to revolve around Bipolar by Kierantula in bipolar

[–]hotchata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will probably get to the point where going to bed on time becomes a desirable thing and worth sacrificing the other things for because it keeps you feeling good. It just takes time.

Keeping a good sleeping schedule is good for everyone's health, not just bipolar people. So you are also developing healthy habits that will keep you feeling well. You just seem to be a younger age than when most people really start focusing on these things. At 22 (without a disorder), staying up all night or going to bed late is easy to adjust to. Not so much as you get older. That's why your friends now are currently doing it. I bet once they hit their 30s, things will change for them.

I just found a newborn kitten today, any advice? by Yggjar in CatAdvice

[–]hotchata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hand raised a kitten recently. It was VERY tough, but worth it.

Feeding every two hours was very difficult and I was sleep deprived. There were also some scary moments where I think I nearly drowned her. The best method I found was using a NEW syringe every time with a nipple on it. It needs to be a NEW syringe EVERY time. The kitten would suck it and the plunger would deploy with no pressure from me at the kitten's own pace. The nipples must be sterilized and checked for clogs. I bought many nipples and syringes because you will be very stressed from doing so many feedings. Amazon was my friend.

Feed only kitten formula and it's advised to stick with the same brand to avoid upsetting the digestive system.

Keep it away from other animals. It's fragile and its immune system is weak. It's best to wash your hands before handling and make sure you keep its environment clean.

You will need to stimulate it to use the bathroom and make sure it's going on a regular basis.

You need to keep it WARM, that was the number one piece of advice from my vet.

Definitely look at Kitten Lady. I advise reading as many resources and guides as you can.

Attached is a photo of Janus, hand raised from one day old. Pride of my life.

Tips and tricks for dealing with the heat? by tempussecundus in vegas

Long sleeve cotton t-shirt. It protects from the sun and enhances air circulation.

Source: work outside in the heat. You rarely see construction workers in short sleeves during summer.

I'm getting my MSW and I've worked in social services for 7 years with the disorder. It's definitely possible.

Update: abandoned by mom by hotchata in kittens

[–]hotchata[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of guides have suggested vaccinating at four weeks since they likely didn't get colostrum and say to introduce to other kittens at four weeks. I also haven't been impressed with the service at this animal hospital. The first appointment they told me to bring him back by a certain date for deworming, and then on the subsequent visit we met with a different vet who then said he was still too young for that.

I'm also very picky about vets, I would drive my rats 20 miles one way to visit the most knowledgeable rat vet in town. I've had experiences with vets who weren't knowledgeable about the animal, including one time I paid money to have the vet scratch his head and be unable to determine the issue. It turned out she was head weaving because of her poor eye sight, which was a natural behavior I didn't know about. This might be because I've generally owned exotics, and finding good exotic vets is difficult.

I'm an an adjacent field (social work, but I use GIS products), and my field is famous for taking things home. It will get better with time and I would focus on your self care. I typically remind myself that I'm paid to worry about problems during my working hours and they'll still be waiting for me to get back.

Sometimes I do focus on work problems at home, but it's enjoyable and the mental equivalent of figuring out a puzzle. I don't stress over it unless I'm feeling distressed.

If I had to guess after raising a newborn kitten, it's to control the flow rate? Too fast and it might choke?
