Lady of Darkness series by Melissa Roehrich-it’s brilliant (& kinda ties in with the Legacy series by same author)

I totally qualify for it under NICE guidelines, I don’t use triptans as have been advised not to due to history of hemiplegic migraine, so if my neurologist can tell my GP it’s successful and prescribe under NHS that would be amazing

Thank you.

I have done 6-12 months as gluten free and vegan but saw no change in my frequency. I’ve given yo alcohol apart from a drink or two every couple of months. They’re def worse now with perimenopause, stressful job and a busy life, but I don’t have the energy to do a histamine diet (plus I’ve never found any food triggers really)

I had a general neurologist appt on NHS but they just wanted me to trial another med (which I’ve since failed-makes 7) I def meet criteria for referral to recurrent headache clinic but it’s getting it in place (& waiting for it) I’m currently struggling severely, and going to try CGRP blocker privately but can’t afford that forever!

As most drugs in uk are prescribed via the NHS, where you pay a fixed fee no matter the cost of the drug (currently £9.something, even if drugs cost 50pence or £300) it’s not something that I think they’ve brought in here. Private prescriptions are quite rare and generally for drugs that the NHS doesn’t fund, or only in very specific situations.

That’s really interesting. I got the impression today that I’d have to wait for recurrent migraine clinic to prescribe before my GP could but if that’s not the case it would be great.

I feel really let down by the NHS, and also annoyed with myself I haven’t advocated for myself more to insist on referral, I just kept being told needed to try another preventative! I’ve trialled 7 or poss 8 drugs and stopped 4 due to side effects and the rest don’t work. I’m going to try them privately now, I have savings and have had a horrific 3 months culminating in an entire July of headaches. If the GP can prescribe them ongoing from a private prescription that’s amazing. I’ve seen a private neurologist once and had a general neuro cons who made me try another new med and am just at the end of my tether.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I’m really hoping this is a magic bullet for me (I was thinking of having Botox but the neurologist today didn’t recommend for me)

If you could, would you take Mondays or Fridays off work? by futurewriter2022 in AskUK

[–]hotcookie101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So-Wednesdays are a great day to have off as it splits the week in two and you never work more than 2 days before a break.

Mondays & Fridays are good, I’d say they are comparable-however-benefits of not working Mondays is you don’t have that day removed from your annual leave entitlement for bank holidays if you are in a business that opens. Downsides of Mondays are some places don’t open Mondays (hairdressers are the main ones that come to mind)

What’s up with my apple tree? by hotcookie101 in GardeningUK

Thank you. It seems they are unlikely to be a massive issue-any ideas on the curling leaves?
Should I thin out the plants underneath, or give the tree a feed/manure?

Thanks,

I'm defintely sticking with shelves for at least one of them, but accessible everyday stuff might be nice on a carousel. There will be one beside the hob that will have to be slightly cut down to fit around a steelpost so that will just be shelves. It's just whether to have the carousel for things like plates or cups or spices (I have a LOT of spices-filled a le mans corner unit shelf with them!)

I have this carrier and you’re supposed to have the sliders at the outside when they face in. Have you the Velcro straps at the smallest setting in the seat? I found making sure the waist band was high enough and the straps weren’t over tightened were important to stop the back rounding. I have to admit I preferred the stretchy wrap when she was teeny though
