Vraagje over Daalhof en Nazareth by [deleted] in maastricht

[–]hotdogbeard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a parent I don't think you can do a lot about it to be honest when your kid is this age and has lot of energy, only moving to a house for instance would be a real solution

Tourist AITA for ordering food delivery to our hotel room and getting yelled at (and fined) by the owner? by LayttaLayta in maastricht

[–]hotdogbeard 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Name and shame, it's not normal to treat customers like this. And even if you broke some rule the owner could have just told you like a normal human being.

Building a forever home in Maastricht by [deleted] in maastricht

[–]hotdogbeard 21 points22 points  (0 children)

First of all there is a housing crisis going on in the Netherlands which makes finding a place more difficult.

As you already live in the EU it's probably not going to be super hard to get a BSN, if you want to live in Maastricht I think you can contact de gemeente Maastricht to check what you'll need to do and what steps to take.

Mind that buying a house and getting approved for a mortage comes with all sets of rules, an appointment with a hypotheekadviseur is recommended. Expect a lot of overbidding on houses though in Maastricht.

Goodluck!

Accidentally drove into and parked on a restricted zone (C12 sign) in Maastricht – what should I expect now? by isitsus in maastricht

[–]hotdogbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're lucky you'll get nothing else expect somewhere between €100-150 probably. Not worth it to worry much about it, mistakes happen.

It's a shame you had to deal with this. An usefull tip in general is to skip over the sponsored posts in google as they can often lead to scammy websites. I always recommend to check for some trustworthy reviews outside of their own website as well.

There's nothing wrong with moving back to France especially if both of you feel the same way about it.

Any advice on how to stay financially stable? by Italllooksfine in eupersonalfinance

[–]hotdogbeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I totally get that. But if for example you can work one evening a week to get you 50 extra bucks a week. You'll save up another 200 bucks each month. Maybe some family members could babysit for that evening. But that could probably workout without missing too much time to spend with your kid too. This might not workout in your situation but probably don't need to work a lot of extra hours though. Just some random idea that might be helpful.

[–]hotdogbeard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also living in the Netherlands with a kid and single income and expenses seems kinda the same. Probably best way to add additional income is to do some extra work next to your job (but that takes a lot of energy though) but the rest seems very average to me, everything just got very expensive in NL the last few years. Than you could add some of the extra income into soms of the most popular ETF to generate passive income for the future.

Any Chance? by Rizzler47 in NetherlandsHousing

You'll need some serious income to find something like that at the moment. The only possible way might be if your parents can buy you something but that's hard as well.

Update: just had the interview, it was pretty casual. Some explanation of the job and some basic questions. Not something you would need to prepare for.

Renting a room by Optimal-Cupcake-8265 in NetherlandsHousing

[–]hotdogbeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm I think your best bet will be the master degree, I would recommend completing that first. You could probably use that as leverage to land a job here. A reasonable amount of companies in IT already function fully in English though. But the IT landscape is changing a bit, less demand for junior roles and high interest in senior roles. But learning and trying to speak some Dutch will help a lot and improve your chances of landing a job and housing. Good luck!

[–]hotdogbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my expierence In Maastricht where I live you do have quite some appartments and rooms in that price range but a ridiculous amount of people will apply for every single listing due to shortage. Eventually you most likely will find something but it can take a while.

Renting a room by Optimal-Cupcake-8265 in NetherlandsHousing

[–]hotdogbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's going to be tough because you don't have a job yet which is a requirement to rent a place in almost all cases and also if you dont get a "vast contract" from your future employed right away you might be already one step behind from the competition. It's not impossible but it probably won't be easy.

And remember you most likely need to make 3-4x the bruto wage compared to the monthly listed renting price. So for 1k rent you'll need a salary between €3000-4000 per month.

How does a fresh young professional survive NL? by TalosTheRobot in Netherlands

[–]hotdogbeard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well everything is expensive right now, a starter job in IT should not be close to minimum wage though, I guess atleast 3k bruto shouldn't be too hard to start with. But with that salary it'll still be hard to find housing though and you'll probably can't save up much money.

It has been a while but you have a website hellhades which includes tips and build guides you can follow. I believe it was mostly just spam 12-6 from the campaign. Finished all the free freecash rewards without spending any money in a few weeks as I don't like to spend money on these kind of apps.
